Re: AAZ Turbo
Oh and just check I guess you've already checked the obvious split pipes and poorly sealed connections to and from the turbo. You don't want a simple thing like this to cause you to lose boost.

Re: AAZ Turbo
When did you have your turbo serviced last? Perhaps it's time to send it off and see how it runs on a test bed? Sounds to me like your waste gate is potentially jammed.

Re: Syncro JX to AFN mTDi swap
Ive just fitted a clutch pully to my AHU MTDI only to discover i need a special tool to torque to 85. So my bus is driveway bound til further notice. I wont mention the GSF "cock" up over supplying their first pully to me which was wrong!

Re: Carat alloys tyre size?
should these 205 70 14 tyres be 205 70 14C or just 14? the hand book doesn't state C rating but it's a commercial vehicle.

hi Aidan, yes VW fobbed me off! No one seems to know their job anymore in these parts companies, thank goodness for specialists.

Gearbox input shaft play
I've got to fit a new AHU engine into my T3 and trying to locate a needle bearing that goes between the input shaft and the crank at the clutch end - it's a nightmare! I tried Brickwerks "out of stock", GSF, "What's that?" they said, VW Parts "no"....."too old"...

Re: 1.9 TDI AHU Top Dead Centre Advice
hi jc no not at all I believe im done and up and running just need to fit the engine asap. if you follow the advice from colin about feeling the crank relaxing, you really can feel it. In addition if you can drop the sump and view the crank shaft from underside, hopefully the two centre pistons will...

Re: 1.9 TDI AHU Top Dead Centre Advice
hi Colin
I agree with your post, and yes it was definitely like the engine relaxed at this point. now the belt is on and I've turned the engine over using a 19mm socket and bar this resulted without any obstruction from the valves. I believe it may be ok
otherwise..........ouch

Re: 1.9 TDI AHU Top Dead Centre Advice
I've removed the sump for only visual confirmation - using the flywheel I looked for TDC markings then worked out from looking at the bolts on the fly wheel where 12oclock would sit and turned the crank to the presumed position. I checked the underside of the crank and the two middle pistons were do...

1.9 TDI AHU Top Dead Centre Advice
Hi I have an AHU 1.9 TDI engine and I'm looking to see if anyone has knowledge of the crankcase position for TDC on the pulley side? I don't have the gearbox to line up the flywheel on this engine plus this engine came without a cambelt on it, someone before me whipped off the fuel pump! anyone with...

Re: Turbo problems.
MTDI Conversion 1st rolling road session with an 1996 AHU 1.9TDI engine. Sorry for the delay in responding. Quite a successful couple of hours on the rolling road, the initial set up when I arrived was producing 56hp at the wheels. I have to admit it was already better than the JX lump on the road b...

Tomorrow the bus goes on the rolling road for a tune up. Tweaking the waste gate and adjusting the fuel pump boost pin and spring. get some pic's on here and the results.

Re: AAZ conversion JX Turbo or AAZ Turbo?
You didn't mention if your conversion was ETDI or MTDI? If you're using an ECU then use the AAZ Turbo. however if you are using a mechanical diesel pump use the JX turbo. Remember different adaptor plates for each choice, Brickwerks have one for the JX turbo or ultimate engineering for the AAZ Turbo...
