Thanks for the advice itchyfeet been out done what you said and also added a bit more grease to them with quite an intricate cake icing syringe adapted to what I needed it for took it out for 30 min and no noise so fingers crossed this is sorted for a while.

That's what I thought with my pushrods they were sat correctly on the rockers but not seated correctly on the opposite end only found by chance. I undone the rockers so the rods were loose and and guided them in to there seats internally and that allowed the valves to close giving me back the compre...

Hi I have just replaced water jacket seals on my 85 1.9 dg and found cylinders 3&4 had no compression and was only firing on 1&2 went through everything until I noticed the pushrods were not seated correctly and holding the valves open sorted them and she fired right up. Might be worth a look.

Well I now have compression just no ignition now but bat run flat and ran out of light so will try again tomorrow night and get new plugs too as these look well old and messy.
