Re: Rustoration
Sizzle, that’s a good description. It’s not easy to set it up a welder correctly and you need different settings for different thickness of metal. Probably a good idea to write the settings down that work well so when you need to change it you have a reference to go back to. Wire speed is classic ex...

Re: Rustoration
I learned to weld the same way most folks on here have, trial and error, so I am no pro but the thicker the steel the larger the wire really needs to be as it puts more heat into the weld. 0.6mm wire is perfect for the gauge steel you are welding and your method of several small spots together (5 or...

Re: Rustoration
Not sure what welder you are using but try turning the wire speed up a little at a time and weld a scrap piece to see how it goes. I use a Sealey supermig and that is set on 2 with a wire speed of 7-8 which works well..

Re: Cleaning inside chassis rails from rear bumper end
Seconded on the vacuum. I duct taped a piece of 15mm speed fit pipe to the hoover and that worked well.

Re: Loose wire
From the picture it looks like it is the other end of the earth wire running into the white clip. Does your distributor have an earth lug on the outside and is it connected to anything ?

Re: heater matrix pipes
I recently replaced mine with silicon hoses. I bought 8m in total which did both hoses with some to spare. I think they were just over 3.6m each from memory.

Re: Newly fitted rev counter fluctuates wildly
It was installed inline close to the coil. Spade connectors were crimped onto the ends and connected that way.

Re: Newly fitted rev counter fluctuates wildly
I had the same problem with mine and after a lot of head scratching and google searching i installed a 10k ohm resistor on the feed wire from the coil and it cured it.

Re: Front Jacking Point
The inner B post had completely gone hardly anything left. The repair is as close as i could get it. The new bottom section of the inner B pillar is made from 2mm plate and sits about 35mm from the front of the sill. There is a slight angle on it but not going right to the front. It is as strong as ...

Re: Front Jacking Point
Inner sill was bought as a whole from Alan Schofield. Mine is a fairly major restoration as most of the lower part was shot so cut out and replace. You can patch the sill if it's not to bad but it is what you find behind that could be an issue.

Re: Front Jacking Point
Rear view of the inner sill and the strengthening plate that is plug welded to the top of the rear jacking point. I used a 4mm piece with 13mm holes drilled through it to allow for a decent weld. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170509/ea28dbbf5736045b8c3c72c9f0018e04.jpg Sent from my D5803 using ...
