Re: CV joint rebuild question.
Many thanks for all the replies. My bad, there is some help in the wiki. I had just gone straight to "Gearbox Clutch CVs Driveshaft" rather than "CV joint repair". That will teach me... However it doesn't mention the cage orientation and nor does Haynes. Perhaps its less importan...

CV joint rebuild question.
I've removed a half shaft to clean and inspect the CV joints before greasing and reinstalling. However, now I've got it in bits I can't work out the orientation for the inner race and the cage. Both are asymmetric, so I assume there is a right (and wrong) way round to be installed. I've looked in th...

Re: Adding underfloor water tank
Thanks for the replies, much appreciated. That's a good point about weight distribution. Although the layout in my van is halfway to a weekender (full width bed, no run of cupboards down the offside apart from the cooker/sink unit) it would be nice to help spread out the weight if possible. Space un...

Adding underfloor water tank
A change in family circumstances means I have got to try and eke every last bit of space in the van to accommodate an extra (small) person and their clothing, gear etc. The easiest place for me to gain some space is remove the fresh water tank from under the sink and fit an under floor tank. (I don'...

Re: Distributor advance maxed to early
I decided to give the spring maker a go. As much for the interest as anything else. He took the spring and made various measurements, I then had to wait a little over a week before I could pick the spring up as he was rather busy. As he has a min charge, he made me about 8 springs which turned out t...

Re: Distributor advance maxed to early
Thanks itchyfeet. Unsurprisingly my Q looks like your Q, same colour coded plastic bits as well. The C is interesting - it appears to be weighted on only one arm like the Q and to my eyes at least, the springs appear to be different. The one on the unweighted arm appear to be made of a smaller diame...

Re: Distributor advance maxed to early
Thanks for the replies. :ok So that confirms it - it is only supposed to have one spring. I've searched around but can't find anyone that seems to supply an advance spring for this dizzy. It looks like if it was a Lucas I would have no problems getting one. I have found a couple of places that will ...

Distributor advance maxed to early
This is for an '89 bus with a 1.9 DG wbx engine. Distributor is 0 237 024 035 / 025 905 205 Q (bosch/vw) I'm working through a number of carb and distributor issues and have arrived at this one :) The vacuum unit has been replaced as it was broken and the vacuum side of things performs as expected, ...

Re: Water coming out of exhaust.
Thanks for the reply. I did wonder if the amount it was producing was a normal by-product, but this has only started happening a few months ago. Coupled with the misfire (which is new) and disappearing water I assumed the worse ... Thats a good point about the sniff test, I'l see if I can arrange one.

Water coming out of exhaust.
Hi all, first post. I have a 1989 T25 1.9 petrol engined (DG) camper which is blowing quite a lot of water out of the exhaust. The amount coming out does seem to reduce when the engine gets warm but doesn't stop completely. There are no leaks as far as I can see, but header tank level looks like it ...
