Re: Over size valve shims
Thanks a lot for the offer of help but I have a confession to make, I really messed up the readings of my shim sizes despite buying a new micrometer! After I spent five minutes on youtube watching a video entitled " using a metric micrometer" I suddenly no longer needed such thick shims, m...

Over size valve shims
Hi all, it seems that i need some shims thicker than normally available, 4.4, 4.3 4.7 for example. I am guessing that my non-standard cylinder head has suffered some alteration during its 're-con' process.
Does anyone know where I could get such larger shims?

Re: jx tappet adjustment
Thanks for the help guys, the magnet was excellent for getting the shims out by the way. As a T25 newbe i assumed that the shims were freely available as they were a service part. I ordered a set from Brickwerks for a good price and will be here tomorrow, very pleased. I phoned around to see just wh...

jx tappet adjustment
Hi all, I need to adjust my tappets but cannot get hold of/afford the special tools to enable me to change the shims in situ. I am thinking that if i make a note of all the valve gaps measurements first then remove the camshaft I could refit all the correct shims and refit the camshaft. I already ha...

jx injection pipes arrangement
Hi all, its me again, not having much luck with my engine. It now starts , only just and then on full throttle. It coughs and jumps about and sounds terrible. Spent the day with a mechanic friend who checked the timing, checked fuel supply and tried moving the cam belt a tooth either way with no luc...

JX 1.6 td injection order 1 3 4 2 ?
Hi all, having big trouble getting my jx to fire up after replacing cold start spindle seal. I had learned that the firing order is 1, 3, 4, 2, and meticulously replaced the injection pipes in this order. But, as I say it was a non starter. Now I am thinking that maybe I have replaced the pipes in t...

Re: Friends JX bus now impossible to start.
Hi, the cold start use is fine for this weather. Is the fuel pope transparent? can you see bubbles moving? are there lots of bubbles? does it start with some easy-start? are the connections to the fuel filter still tight? are the injector nuts still tight? is there a one way valve in the fuel line? ...

Re: Tdc mark
The V is cut into the clutch cover plate and not on the flywheel itself. There are dowels on the plate that ensure that the cover can only be bolted to the flywheel in the correct position.

Re: how easy to take the head off 1.6 jx ?
Hi, I didnt take the cambelt rear plate off, there were a seemingly neverending series of half hidden bolts. I just bent the plate to one side a bit so that I could get the head off and out. Bending the plate allowed me to lift the head without the front protruding end of the camshaft fouling the pl...
