Re: Using a 5 speed gearbox with a 4 speed selector

Sorry to hijack your thread but I have a question and as yet I have been unable to find an answer. What is the difference between the 4 and 5 speed setup? My van has been off the road for many years and I am just getting her back together. I have a 5 speed box but no linkage and I want to know if I ...

Re: 20v turbo engine

The main problem with the V6 is the cost of the bellhousing. I already have most of the bits to fit the 1.8t

Re: Newbie with first t25 issues

Sounds like its been running on its own oil. Generally it results in a totally knackered engine. Melted pistons, heat damaged head, damaged crank and con rods from over revving and hydraulic locking. Any engines I have seen that have run on their own oil have required full rebuilds or replacement

Re: 20v turbo engine

I originally wanted to use an Audi V8 or V6 but the SA bellhousing would cost more than a full 1.8t conversion and the 1.8t is easier to fit LPG to.

Re: 20v turbo engine

Thanks guys. Would any of you know what engine codes would suit or what cars would suit. Also has it been done before with the engine at 50 degrees and are there any pitfalls? It seems to be a common convertion in the US but they all run them at the original angle using gearbox adapter plates.

Fantastic info guys. If I can run hydraulic followers all the better as it makes them easier to fit. If I run the standard hydraulic cam and followers then what push rods will I need? I assumed that I would be ok with the standard cam on 1:1.4. Would there be any advantages in running 1:1.25s? other...
