Antifreeze G11

Hi….I have a KY 1.7D, the handbook specifies G11 antifreeze…guessing it’s better to stick with this as opposed to more recent developments eg G13? I can’t be 100% sure it’s G11 in there but it is a blue green colour. Had a wee leak from a midway rubber/steel pipe connection yesterday…thought somethi...

Re: Rear brake imbalance - not balanced

yes, I thought the same - just leave the spring off.....so I took the spring off, marked the position of the cog and over the course of 200 miles the adjuster had tightened itself!! I'm starting to think even though the spring is fitted correctly (upwards), it is interfering with the adjuster - they...

Re: Rear brake imbalance - not balanced

Oh...also meant ask Roller, what make shoes did you fit?

I fitted Pagid and notice that like yours, on the trailing shoe on o/s the fibre is short of the end of the metal whereas on the n/s shoe it runs all the way to the end ie. full length like the leading shoes...strange?

Re: Rear brake imbalance - not balanced

Great pics thank you!....interesting.... my adjuster is very tight to the spring on n/s, not so much on o/s... I notice you have the female part of the adjuster chamfered end showing...I read on here & in the books that the chamfer is on the backplate side...? Think I’m going to have to have a c...

Re: Rear brake imbalance - not balanced

will check, thanks Roller

also just noticed that the spring (behind leading shoe) is very tight against the female part of the adjuster compared to o/s so wonder if that might be coming into play..? will try swapping side to side...

Re: Rear brake imbalance - not balanced

thanks both, given that the shoes visibly show signs of onverheating I don't think it could be a bearing problem...it gets so hot so quickly...

Have checked handbrake cables...

Re: Rear brake imbalance - not balanced

yes, you're right, I've swapped the drums over - just the same. Next thing I'll do is swap the wheel cylinders over.... There must be a logical answer!....however, the one thing that is so weird is the fact that the NS adjuster adusted itself up even without the spring attached (I marked the positio...

Re: Rear brake imbalance - not balanced

Yeah did that with drums & no difference and also fitted another new pair of shoes, no difference...guess I could change over wheel cylinders but both seem to be working fine....so frustrating!

Re: Rear brake imbalance - not balanced

hi No sure there wasn't a problem, I'd had the van for 6 years and decided to change shoes, drums and wheel cylinders as the old shoes were worn, not that bad just thought I'd do it as I had gone to the trouble of getting the drums off etc etc.....kibnda wish I hadn't & defintely wish I'd kept t...

Re: Rear brake imbalance - not balanced

thanks, but as I understand the bias valve is located at the front of the vehicle and detrmines the braking pressure delivered to the rear brakes relative to the front dependent on weight being carried in the vehicle......only one pipe comes off the bias valve towards the rear where a union splits t...

Few miles and NS drum gets very hot....OS slighty warm as it should be tried without adjus...

ah...so the Blue manual and the Jk Diesel manual (page 107) are in direct contradiction! None the wiser!
