That's exactly what I thought of building. Saw an image on Google and it looks slightly more usable/convenient. Might make up a lid for the time being as I have plenty of ply spare here. Then may remove it and build one at a later date if I get annoyed with it like you have. :) I saw the repro ones....

I've spoken to a few people and they've said there's not many about.
Local t25 breaker said hes only had 1 in the last 9 years.
Think I'm going to keep it more as a talking point than anything what was the top made of? Some form of ply?

Really? That rare then. I guess I should keep it then and sort out a wood top for it. I have all the original interior I believe so probably best to keep it.
Just nice to know if something major goes wrong I can cash in to help keep the bus on the road.
