Re: It came off in his hand...Sliding door handle problem
Is the spring that causes the right hand side of the sliding door to 'pop' out when you pull the handle working ok? Mine wasn't until recently and it meant I was putting huge strain on the handle to pull the door out a bit before I could start sliding it back. Is this the big spring inside the door...

Re: warm air system on 1.6 air cooled
I've also got an 1.6 Aircooled. The online VAG catalog is really good: http://www.vagcat.com/epc/cat/vw/T2/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; (T2 covers T25) You need to create an account to see the diagrams. It's great for part numbers. Something like these should help you: h...

Re: Fuel sender?
I had similar symptoms: needle would only work when the tank was between full and about 1/3 full. A new sender fixed it. I was able to install it without completely removing the tank. I cheated by using 2 jacks, one at the front and one at the rear, I only partially lowered the front one and lowered...

Re: carb advice
Thanks for the info sarran, I'll put it on my to-do list... I bought the van almost a year ago and it hasn't moved since, I drove it home (limped home morelike) on 3 cylinders. At the time it had no power at all, it was horrible to drive. It had the Hall disconnected, had a 009 distributor, front br...

Re: carb advice
Question for sarran1955... I've also got a 1600 CT... The 'plenum chamber' is gone from my engine. i.e. the exhaust pipes into the chamber are gone and the exhaust outlets were welded over by a previous owner (possibly had started leaking due to rust holes?). Are they a big loss to the engine? Shoul...

Rivets instead of spot welds when fitting panels?
I'd like to get some opinions on using rivets instead of spot/puddle welds when fitting panels. (the external panels that make up the seams) Here's why I'm tempted to try it: - rivets will pull the gap closed to give a nice consistent gap - you can use proper primer and paint on both sides before th...
