Re: Standard Throttle Arm?

Hi club, After getting a new throttle cable over the weekend - I spent a bit of time under the van. I was looking at the path of the old throttle cable and started to fit the new one following the same route. I started at the back and worked towards the front. My old throttle cable goes above the fu...

Hi Club, My throttle cable snapped today. Whilst Im looking about for a replacement - please could someone look at the picture and tell me if the arm / lever that the cable attaches to is standard? http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q653/ps288/IMG_20151110_100952_zpssfvlvxvn.jpg as mine has a weber...

Re: Fuel pump - electric or mechanical

The garage have fitted the pump near the tank - but Its still having problems. It will start then die so the garage thinks the pump isn't strong enough. They recommend trying to get hold of one with a bigger flow rate. The older pump I have seems to work a little better. Just wondered if anyone else...

Re: Fuel pump - electric or mechanical

Thanks for the replies everyone - very useful info. I've ordered a new pump - as for £27 is a fairly cheap part and worth it for piece of mind. I'll keep the other as a spare. I think moving it is the best option - The Van currently has an immobiliser (which I have no idea how it works) which turns ...

Re: Fuel pump - electric or mechanical

thanks for the help - much appreaciated. Think Im going to buy one - just a couple of more questions :) NPT fittings - the pump linked doesn't come with any - so I guess I need 2x male 1/8 NPT with a 8mm diameter? ( i think thats what my fuel lines are) Currently the pump is located near the carb - ...

Re: Fuel pump - electric or mechanical

That's for the reply big herb I think the existing electrical pump is very generic so maybe unable to find any manufacturer specifications. Previously it had filled up a small cup fairly rapidly. But that's not a very scientific way of doing things. I will see how long it takes to fill a 5l petrol c...

Fuel pump - electric or mechanical

Hi all My van has had some work done and is finally starting again :) I've taken it for a few runs to the local shops and back and everything seemed hunky dory. Famous last words. But.....when I took it for a longer drive and hit over 30mph Im having issues. It stutters and loses power. It will star...

Re: Fuel Issue?

Hello all, Just thought I would log another update. The mechanic did check the pushrods - but they looked ok. Hes taken the head off and the valve is fouled up. Its a friend of a friends garage , who is doing it when he has some spare time. Am hopeful the final bill will reflect this. :D Just a ques...

Re: Fuel Issue?

Got the van recovered to a local mechanic.

He has redone a compression test and confirmed that there is no compression in one of the cylinders.

Next step is to take the head off to see what the problem is.

Re: Fuel Issue?

Hi Ghost, I was wondering if it should still start even with no compression in a single cylinder. Its did not even sound like it was about to get going. Just the noise of the starter. I'll detail what I think the mechanic did whilst he was here looked at my carb and adjusted the float. then after tr...
