Re: Non T25 but still VW query
They could post this query on the UK MIVS forum. Brilliant resource, not unlike this is for van stuff. My MK 4 Golf is a TDI, but from what I know the ECUs can be picked up at a scrappys and plugged in, BUT they need to be coded to the 'new' engine via plugging in the VacCom software. Many of the us...

Great system and yes, you did the right job by sorting the engine mounts as well at the same time. Enjoy.

Late DG sump plug issue, any info?
Mates 1990 DG engine sump plug rotates both ways, without doing much! Will no doubt need helicoiling? Engineering place has suggested removing sump and taking it separately to them.....is this do-able? I've no longer got my DG engined van so can't pop out and have a look at mine.. I was under the im...

Re: Propex Kit
The Propes HS (Heat Source) 2000 is a great bit of kit. They also do an HS200E which will also run on mains electric but is a tad more expensive. Just get it from wherever is cheapest at the time. It's fairly straightforward to fit, but suggest you get your installation 'approved' by a certified Gas...

Re: Rubber dishes under the rear springs?
VW T4 Uppers fit VW T3 lower spring seats a treat. Give you a height raise of 8mm or so as they are thicker. When I did my spring seats I used the replacement metal spring seats from Brickwerks and the T4 upper packing pieces too. If you search on my posts you will find pictures. I galvanised my tra...

Re: engine mountings
Yes, you are correct, definitely worth replacing the engine mountings. The problem has been that people put on a shiny new stainless exhaust system, on a poorly tuned van, with worn engine mountings and wonder why, a year later, their exhaust has shaken itself to death! Your exhaust is off anyhow, s...

Re: Using Carb Cleaner
Take top of carb air box off. With van cold and before touching accelerator pedal, spray carb cleaner over inside and outside of carb. Follow directions on can but usually leave fir couple minutes to allow it to 'de gum' the throat of carb etc. Now depress accelerator pedal to floor once, and releas...

Re: Exhaust stud replacement
Steel studs x 6 with proper brass exhaust nuts, two of which can be external dia 1mm less than the other standard four, as it makes access to tightening those two up easier, what with the two tight J tubes. The last two fixings usually use bolts, again standard steel ones. Each two years, during you...

Re: Propex 1600 compact
Wow, lots of ideas on this thread! :-) Replying to the OP but also to one and all.... My van runs on LPG. I have two tanks fitted to run engine. They are linked, for range. One is under the R and R bed and one is where spare wheel was. I carry a puncture spray fill thing, but tbh, not sure if that w...

Dirty switch? Earth crown?
You don't say what van...?
Does your heater blower fan work? Some vans gave a shared circuit between blower motor and wipers..

Re: Pros & Cons of Different T25 Standard Engine Types
Hi and welcome. Air cooled CU engines are easy to source parts for. The 1.9 DG engine comes in 'early' (up to '85) and late guises, and are generally a well regarded lump. As you've already discovered, check for known history as far as coolant changes and correct coolant is concerned. On here there ...

Admittedly still in the shed and no sign of needing them at the moment...
Got them from oponeo.co.uk and fitted locally.
I've got the same ones, also from Oponeo online. Excellent tyres

Re: Hi revs when changing gear
If it's faulty, you should still be able to tell if it's not running smoothly, by manually operating the throttle at the carb end, as that will still 'pull' on the cable itself.....
