Re: More buzzer of doom questions
Just updating the thread. I did my first long trip in the van since upgrading to 20w50 oil. 1hr 30mins at 65 - 70 mph, came off the A11 up to the roundabout and NO buzzer of doom. So I'm i'm at least pleased with that change. I still have the oil pressure gauge to fit, which I'll do before the summe...

Re: Time for a modern sound system - any thoughts?

should your wheels spin freely
Hi In trying to resolve my buzzer of doom problem I just did my annual service. In addition to oil and filters, I lifted each wheel of the ground, spun it and shook it, left to right, top to bottom. Two of the wheels spin freely, the other two do not. I'm guessing this Isn't normal. Front near side,...

Re: More buzzer of doom questions
Does it have to be a 'Wet' gauge? Does an electrical gauge that has a 'wet' sender unit qualify? Or does it need to be a gauge that measures the oil directly . I have been looking since yesterday at fitting a dash mounted pressure gauge, but was looking at the electrical type. I'd like to see how th...

More buzzer of doom questions
Hi I also have buzzer of doom problems. Mine will predictably come on as I slow at the first roundabout after a long stretch cruising at 65mph on a dual carriageway or motorway. After the roundabout it's usually fine, and it won't typically come on again once off the fast road and the speed slows (a...

How do you drain the coolant?
I mean, drain it properly. Obviously I can just undo a random hose and let coolant pee out all over the drive and run into the gutter and down the drain. But that doesn't sound very responsible. But 16 litres is a lot of fluid to capture, and then according to my Haynes, dispose of properly. What do...

Dash removed. What should I do while it's off.
Hi I decided to remove the dash in order to trace a water leak. What other routing jobs should I do while its off. I was thinking about greasing the bearing on the air blower motor Rinsing out the heater matrix Intermittent wash wipe Headlight relay mod Sounds like a lot now that i've written it dow...

Re: Water Pooling in footwell - NOT the windscreen!
Well I was right, it wasn't the windscreen. At least, not after I sealed it. I bit the bullet and took the dash out. No obvious signs of leakage, so got my helper to spray the van with water whilst i looked for a leak. It turns out it is leaking from the roof, with the water coming down the inside o...

Re: Water Pooling in footwell - NOT the windscreen!
Thanks, for replies so far. I have been waiting to try and catch it in the act. Which I have! So I at least know where it's dripping from, It's dripping from the big structural cross member that runs underneath the dash, painted same colour as van. This has a split at the bottom, which on mine at le...

Water Pooling in footwell - NOT the windscreen!
Yeah I've read the posts, water in the footwell, your windscreens leaking. So at the first little puddle I bought some windscreen mastic, little bead all the way round. Looked good I thought. Next day, puddle on the floor. Ok, maybe I could do a better job. Ran a bead of said mastic all around the b...

Non-vw, headlights stopped working, looking for advice
Hi Apologies for posting non vw related stuff but I know there are some electrical experts here and I'm looking for advice. I returned from holiday to gatwick last night, picked up the car(Renault grand scenic) from the valet parking and hit the M23. I didn't notice until I overtook the car in front...

Tool to remove Radius Rod Nuts?
Hi Today I wanted to replace my radius rod bushes. Got the poly'thane set from Brickwerks to replace them with. However, I didn't have the right tool to under the inner nut and to loosen the radius rod from the TCA. I've never worked in garage. What tool would they use for this. It's a 27mm nut. I h...

Doctor doctor, I keep poking holes in my campervan...
Doctor, it all started when I bought a campervan. I could see a little bit of rust on the body work, through a chip in the paint. So I did what any grown up kid would do, I poked it with a screwdriver. The paint flicked off reassuringly and I could see some rust underneath. I painted it with Vatcan ...
