Re: Any structural engineers on here

Normally, when you build something with a frame and cladding, you would put horizontal rails or battens to fix the cladding to between the main structure. rather than fixing these rails directly to the main structure you could offset them by fixing brackets between the rail and the structure. This w...

Re: Any structural engineers on here

Yea, but that would mean it's a ramp up into it? Depending on how high you want it, you could achieve a similar look by cleating the cladding off rails. Alternatively, building the frame off of stub sections would allow it to appear elevelated. However, depending on the surrounding area it may creat...

Re: Temp Gauge reading cool

Smosh, early to late means you have gone from a engine earthed sender ( single wire ) to a double insulated sender , the resistances will be different between the early and late senders for this reason alone Yea, that's what thought, so the gauge will read wrong. Is there an easy way to correct thi...

Re: Temp Gauge reading cool

I have this issue after changing from and early coolant system engine to a late style. My gauge worked fine before so I am assuming it isnt directly that. I am wandering if different gauges need different sensors, i.e. they change what Ohms read out as what?

Adam, why does it need to sit on adjustable legs / box section, and can not be built off the existing slab?

Re: Any structural engineers on here

I'm not an Engineer, just a Technician for a Structural Engineering firm, but, I'm happy to help out where I can. I'm struggling a little to visualise how you intend to build it. Personally, I would think the best thing would be to fabricate a number of frames - either use cleats to from the shape o...

Re: Baby No3 - seating issues.

My third but slightly strange and short term solution is to find an iso fix system from a scrap car. I could pull out the iso fix metalwork out of a car and secure it to the van floor. I could then use the baby seats iso fix base to clip onto the metal work. This would be ideal as it replicates mod...

Re: Running Temp.

What temp should they sit at? 80ish?
I'll pull the stat out and check it.
There is a possibility I have the feed and return pipes to the rad the wrong way around? would this make a great deal of difference?

Running Temp.

New engine is in and running. It idles fast and not convinced the mixture an timing are perfect but will sort that. With the new coolant system in place but no temp gauge yet, I ran it up using an infrared temp gun. Time --- LH Head ---- RH Head ----- Thermostat to pump pipe - top of stat housing st...

Re: DG Engine... Will not start!

I had a similar issue with an engine swap. turned out to be dizzy 180 deg. out. Maybe have a look in here for suggestions: http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=158040&start=30" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; It sounds like a timing issue, but are you able...

Forgot to update this!

Switch the dizzy over, that solved the intermittent problem. Was still backfiring all over the shop, had the bloody dizzy 180 deg out!

Haven't sorted the carb electrics yet, but been manic busy and I'm away next week so tackle it when back!

Re: Male father going insane looking at baby seats

With our daughter we first used the maxi cosi cabriofix rear facing seat on the three point belt in the front until she was 10 months. Then forward facing in the britax eclipse. This works with the two point in the rear. We've now fitted three points in the rear, with the britax, which is good till ...
