Spilt Pipe
Hi gents, Had the dreaded MOT a couple of days ago (pass with one advisory for bearing wear in rear offside) however the tester found this split coolant hose whilst he was at it. Its not leaking yet but looks like just a matter of time. http://i678.photobucket.com/albums/vv150/dmechem_photos/2014-08...

Re: Paint help
Removed the seam with a dremel narrow cutting wheel then blasted with 60-80 grit (tried blasting first but wouldn't shift the sealant). Blew out with air line then painted vatcan into the seam with a modellers brush. When dry masked close to the edges of the seam and sealed it with tiger seal in a c...

Re: Paint help
Off on a trip round the country today...joy. Will try to take one when I get back but as the bus is white I don't know how clear it will be. It's just, well, rough. No gloss or sheen to it. Having a bit of a google after posting this last night it seems it could have been drying before it got into c...

Paint help
Hi, Just attempted my first seam! Got it raked out, cleaned, vatcan and tiger sealed. Rubbed the area around down with 1200 grits to get a key, primer on with a rattle can, light rub and then over with two coats of paint (Halfords VW Pastel White). Now I have a rough finish, colour wise it is fine b...

Re: Spot Blasting Seams
Ha! I did think about it but just went for the really small dremel style cutting disks - it eats them though!

Re: Spot Blasting Seams
It's a lot tougher than I envisaged! Have resorted to the rotary tool and using that to get it out then blasting after, seems to be doing the trick. One seam open and now covered in vatcan. once dry I will re seal, prime and paint. Looks like a seam a day, gonna take a few weeks! MM - I'm using 60-8...

Spot Blasting Seams
Sooo..... Nice sunny day, no camping plans - lets have a crack at the seams...... Got my brand new spot blasting gun out, taped the seams and have at it - however it takes the paint off both sides but just isn't getting into the old seam sealant? The gap is a lot narrower than I thought and the open...

U Channel
Hi, I thought it was a nice day to go and do the rusty u channel on the sliding door. Got the old one off, flap disked the cill back to shiny metal, drilled the 6.5mm holes in the new bit and went to weld it... That where the problems start. I am a novice welder, i'm getting the hang of it but only ...

Re: Compressor Advice
Thanks all.
That makes sense Boxy, cheers.
Machine mart are running a 15% off deal at the mo on Clarke stuff so I'll probably go for this one. It states 14.5 Cfm, I am guessing that's displacement but I think that will be enough for the tools I want as they are all around the 8-9 Cfm Mark.
