Re: Autosleeper Trident removal of interior
Problem solved. Called Autosleeper, they had no idea and were not very helpful but van is very old. The problem was definitely at the top and so I ran a thin spatula along the gap between the top of the wardrobe unit and the overhead locker until I found two screws. Despite trying to find these by l...

Autosleeper Trident removal of interior
Hi, I have a 1988 high top Trident Autosleeper and I need to access the bodywork behind the rear wardrobe. I removed the three screws inside the cupboard and the two holding it to the floor but it still will not budge. Are there any hidden screws perhaps under the side larder bottom? I haven't been ...

Re: Help - head gasket gone I think
Oh and might be a stupid question but if I take the weight on ratchet straps how do I lower the engine as the ratchet straps don't have a slow reverse as far as I know.

Re: Help - head gasket gone I think
So I now need a shopping list before I start dropping my engine. I was going to order this from JKampers Engine Gasket Set VW T25 1900, 2100cc Watercooled 1983–1992 JK Part Number: J10361 OEM Part Number: 025-198-009/B I also read that it is worth changing the starter motor bush. Not long ago it had...

Re: Help - head gasket gone I think
Oh crap. No, not feeling so confident but if I can get the engine out I can then get the jobs done if I cant do them myself and I wont be paying for the engine removal at least. I have a bad feeling about this but has to be done or a very large garage bill. I have a good selection of tools but no do...

Re: Help - head gasket gone I think
Well thanks everyone, that is very helpful and gives me the confidence to get this done. I think the head is truly buggered. The video I took shows lots of water bubbling out and what looks like lots of deformed metal and/or rust. If there has been a lack of anti freeze then there will be lots of ru...

Re: Help - head gasket gone I think
Thanks Itchyfeet, is there an online guide to removing the engine. What needs to be disconnected or removed before dropping etc. I have a Haynes manual but a step by step would be great. cheers, Andy

Help - head gasket gone I think
Hi, I had a small amount of water escaping from my 1988 T25 1915cc engine but I could not find the leak. After a long trip from Susex to Bordeaux and back over the summer during which I replaced the water pump, I decided to bleed the system to get some anti freeze into it as the water always seemed ...

Fog lamp positioning
Hi, I have a 1988 T25 Autosleeper. It has fog lamps under the front bumper but they keep catching on the road when I enter or exit anywhere with a steep ramp. Can I re site the lamps on top of the bumper or does anyone have any pics of a better arrangement?
Thanks,
Andy
Thanks,
Andy

Clutch question on T25 Autosleeper 1915cc 1988
Hi, Is there an easy way to determine if my clutch is on the way out? It bites pretty high up, ie. the pedal is nearly at the top. Not sure if there is anywhere I can look to see how much is left. I prefer to do this job early then have it fail. Also if it needs replacing is it an engine out job? Th...

Re: 1988 Autosleeper no power to lights, fridge etc
Hi, thanks for all the helpful comments. Yes fuses checked. Used multimeter and no voltage at control panel. Ran a separate wire from battery to control panel and all works. Negative wire is fine when checked for continuity with multi so just seems to me positive. I agree it is strange. I might expo...

Re: 1988 Autosleeper no power to lights, fridge etc
Jeff j, ok I will change the holder and fuse. I know the fuse you refer to but i had checked it but not the holder. could be bad conntacts there too. The problem has been intermittant so could be a broken wire or contact. Must be something silly like this. Thanks, I will let you know if it works. Ch...
