when mine did this on roundabouts and decided to check the oil level and it needed topping up, only by a small amount. This put a stop to it

The buzzer does pre warn you especially when going around the round abouts

Thats great. Not much room in there to work on. Can it be fitted from above in the engine bay? also there are so may fitting tools out there any recommendations?

Glad to hear that the 17D is a good work house especially where i live in cornwall, up and down the hills. Mine has a 5 speed box could do with 6 gears :lol: Just dont keep driving it if you hear the buzzer of death. I did ask if a turbo could be fitted and the reply was no? Hey just had a thought :...

I was going to marked with a white pen the sprocket postions then take the old belt off. I see someone done this on youtube..Does the kit include locking bolts etc?

17 D Timing belt
Anyone know if when changing a timing belt on a 17D enigine is there any TDC markings that need to be lined up? Diagrams would be great..1990 T25 1.9 diesel.

no mine just seems to be very good on the mpg.. when i purchased the van it came with receipt for over £1,400 rebuild to the engine.. seems great to me. The ex owner who was retired told me that he ignored the temp buzzer and the engine stopped.. its had a new head and rebuild etc

that's my next stage the cam belt, i know when i brought it i was told it had one fitted but this was two years ago let alone i have only covered 3,000 miles in this time(not the main vehicle)

that's great to hear as ours does about +35 mpg and is a plodder. Just wondered about these engines as there seems to be not a lot out there. however they are a bit noisy like an old perkins engine. still if it goes dont put it down.
