Re: Diesel brain picking
I thought it might be that. Opened the tap and nothing came out. I then disconnected the lines from the filter to the pump and filled the lines with fresh diesel. No difference.......

Re: Diesel brain picking
Given the way it dissipates I'd say it was steam. No obvious loss of water from the filler tank though.

Diesel brain picking
1991 t3 1700 non turbo diesel - 130000 miles. I wonder if any of the experts out there can help me with a problem I'm having with my van. The other day I started up as normal and 200 yards later the motor cut out. It would grudgingly fire up again but now seems to be on one (?) cylinder only and lot...

Re: Broken glow plugs
Have been out today trying to find a suitable tap, and of course, being France, with a holiday coming up, everything's closed!
The thread seems finer than a 'normal' one for this size (11.63mm to outside of thread with the core being 9.95mm).
Sarran 1955. I'm near Domfront 61350.

Broken glow plugs
What was going to be a quick simple job has turned into a nightmare! Two of the glow plugs have sheared off in the head of my 1.7 motor. Heat and easy outs didnt work so I've drilled out the vast majority of the steel plug body and I'm going to try to tap the rest out. Can anyone tell me what size t...

I've just been given a couple of new Bosch oil filters and a new diesel fuel filter. Lucky me! I run a 1991 1.7 non turbo diesel van and I'm wondering if these will fit my motor. The Oil filters ( H62 0 451 104 511) are supposed to fit Golf and Jetta 1.6 diesels and the fuel filter (G18 0 450 906 38...

New Brake Drums
I've just recieved a big parcel from Germany with new rear drums & shoes (ebay Germany). The drums are Febi (Bilstein) make. Each of the drums has had 2 curved, flat, metal plates about 3.5 spot welded (not very well) to the outside - 2 of which were off when the package arrived. Does anyone kno...

Wiring worry
Just had to replace the stoplight switch on the van. Not a big deal.... While I had the fuse box out I noticed up at the end by fuses 21 / 22 there was a black/yellow wire which went to a female push on connector and then on after a couple of Cm to a male type connector ( all factory connectors). Th...

1991 handbrake cables
I need to buy a replacement rear handbrake cable online for my 1991 t25. All of the shops i come across list the rear cables as being for 1979 - 90. I presume the 1991 units are the same? Can anyone confirm this?

16" Merc Alloys
I've picked up a set of 16" Mercedes fivespokes to fit onto my '90 hitop. I'd like to fit some 'chunky' tyres to try to give (at least) some grip on anything that's not tarmac. Does anyone know the larges profile tyres that will fit without hitting the trailing arms (or anything else)?
