Heavy Smoking after seal change
1986 T3 fitted with a 1Y VW 1.9 non turbo engine. After developing a leak, I have fitted a new head seal and reassembled the Bosch injection pump. I did not remove the pump and used the old wind out the bolts method, remove the old knackered one, and fit the new one. The only things I removed to make...

Bosch Pump leaking
1986 Leisuredrive fitted with a 1Y Diesel , year not known. I noticed drips of diesel on the drive and traced it to the Bosch injector pump. I can’t see any other numbers on it, so not sure what sort of seal kit I need. I take it some sort of seal has gone. How hard is it to remove and fix? I take i...

Headlamp aim projected image Mot fail
So, after sitting since 2014 and a year of welding, panel work, mechanical and all the other grief that comes with T25s, I stuck her in for an MOT. It failed Gutted. But only on “O/S headlamp aim projected beam image is incorrect.” tester states it’s throwing a round”Bullseye” instead off throwing t...

1Y inlet manifold
1986 Leisuredrive fitted with a 97 1Y engine. After a major "cock" up I need to get the inlet manifold off. Can it come off without removing the exhaust manifold? It doesn’t want to come past it?

New front brake lines.
In the process of renewing all brake lines. Probably glaringly obvious to some of you. Why is this joint wobbling and doesn’t seem right. Seemed tight enough when I took it off. Is the spring clip the right side of the bracket? Wish I had taken a “before photo.

Re: (Not so sweet) Caroline
So, not been on for a while. Things all got a bit on top and it seemed the more I cut away, the more I found. Got a touch of arc eye, which was agony for a couple of days. Genuinely thought of packing it in. Anyway, took a couple of days out and got back into it. Got digging into the rear quarter and...

Seams
What’s the best system when fitting new side panels with regard to the seams. I was thinking bare metal, etch primer , plug weld, inject seams with rust preventer (RC2000), then seam sealer and finally filler on the external seam What’s the best way of applying seam sealer and in what size gap? Thanks

Re: C pillar
Thanks for that. I’ve actually got that same panel, genuine VW. Look at the shocking fit against a JK inner sill! https://i.imgur.com/7pAOnus.jpg That’s with the inner C pillar in the right place. I was really looking for a photo of the bottom of the C pillar. https://i.imgur.com/yGU4jt9.jpg This wh...

Re: (Not so sweet) Caroline
Thanks for that. I couldn’t remember which thread I’d nicked it from :D . Any advice gratefully received. Spent hours in my workshop/ large shed practicing my welding on various thicknesses and think I’m getting there. Weather cleared today but had grief with my Citroen van peeing water everywhere. ...

Re: (Not so sweet) Caroline
Looks like rain stops play today, so a quick update. This is now officially turning into a nightmare. As I said before, every panel down this side seems to be interlinked to another. While setting up the new swing arm. I test fitted the inner sill. The front edge can only fit against one surface, bu...

Re: (Not so sweet) Caroline
Brilliant! That’s just what I was looking for. I see it does go through that slot. https://i.imgur.com/MQhLgL5.jpg And the front repair is exactly the same as I need to do, that really helps. Can’t get a reference point for the sill until it’s got something firm to fix to. I’ll be honest, I really a...

Re: (Not so sweet) Caroline
Had a few days tinkering.Spent a few bob, but I think it’s worth it.Took the advice on here and invested in https://i.imgur.com/Uwuf4Tj.jpg Compressor and a set of air tools. Can’t help feeling I was sold up on this. When the guy in the store was told it was for an air hammer, there was a sharp inta...

Re: (Not so sweet) Caroline
Cancel my last. Waiting for some stuff to come so I thought I’d have a little poke around. https://i.imgur.com/ALCPcpN.jpg I thought this looked a bit iffy. Lesson learned, if it’s blistered outside, it’s knackered behind. https://i.imgur.com/dgujeJ6.jpg https://i.imgur.com/d5voc0p.jpg Loving the li...
