ta, just found this
If you put a wheel on the same hub with a bigger offset, the wheel will sit further inside the wheel arch
So for example... your new rims have an ET of 45...so you will have to fit spacers of 10mm to bring it down to 35 which is within the 39 to 30 range

bought these recently off fleabay, had them cleaned & powder coated, et is 45 so is it a 10mm spacer? they come with original plastic caps that now have vw badges, ...BUT with this offset I still seem to be struggling to clear hubs on wheels to make caps fit the centres have been machine out rea...

its an 81 but has a 1.9 petrol dg in it, as said all was running very well, then its been parked up for 3 weeks & now wont start

voltage on coil?
Hi, van had new coil & 2nd hand distributor, cap & rotor arm before we went to france , all good. been back 3 weeks now van wont start, fuel ok , no spark from plugs. there is 12v at coil wires with ignition on , but when i connect them to the coil there is no voltage .... :? whats going on ?

have you checked fuse in black box back rear of engine bay?, theres the relay & fuse in there

i had exacly same problem day before we went to france, ended up getting a 2nd hand distro from smashing vw in leeds, it was cheaper than a hall sender .

strimmer woes!
titan strimmer from screwfix...had it 2 years all good, got it out today , starts runs well BUT the speed of the strimmer & hedge cutter attachment is way down, it revs well but hegecutter barley moves, strimmer turns at a slow pace... anyone got any ideas ? :( p.s i know probably shouldn't have...

think i have sorted it, just walked in ! the new rubber on door aperture was fouling mechanism on hinge side, they are a real pain to fit ,

Hi just fitting new sliding door seal, the square one that goes on the aperture, does the side of the seal with a wedge bit in it go to lock side or hinge side ? Hope you can see what I mean ?

its the sliding door lock , it only locks from inside anyway as delocked outside as it never worked
