What Engine do I have?

Hi there, forgive the 'dumb' question but ... ... I need to get a new fuel pump for my van - I've been asked what kind of engine I have - how do I find out? I know that it is 1.9l petrol(1983 van) but apparently there are different types of 1.9 petrol - is there an easy way of telling the engine typ...

Sliding Door internal lock

Hi all, I've noticed that I've managed to lose a bizarre bit of my sliding door somehow! The little 'nipple' type thing that you use to lock and unlock it from inside. I'm guessing I could just use a small bolt in it's place - so.... ... I was wondering if ayone knew where I could find a replacement...

Dead Clutch

Hi all been a while since I posted but have been very very busy. Still enjoying my van (83 1.9l Holdsworth) but recently noticed that the biting point on my clutch was getting lower and lower (meant to check it before now but have been flying here there and everywhere). Drove to work this morning an...

I was mostly going to use it to power the laptop on the move.
I guess its a case of 6 of one half a dozen of the other!

Yup I have a leisure battery fitted - I think I may just go for the inverter as I hadn't planned on this so if I get something 'more universal' it should allow for other unexpected power usage etc

cheers for your help all

Inverters

Hi all, another random enquiry by me. I'm looking to keep my laptop charged on the move (not that I'm virtually living in the van now no no no!) :) I was wondering is it worth fitting a 'proper' inverter or just getting one that plugs into the 12v cigarette lighter than PhilPacman kindly fitted? The...

Oil light

Hi all, I was driving into work this morning and the dreaded red oil light came on. Pulled over as soon as I could - had a cigarette to give the oil time to settle - checked it and the levels are fine. Continued into work (all fingers crossed) - checked the levels again at lunchtime - still fine. I ...

If they are a bit sticky.. .. just squeeze some graphite powder in them. If you can't find graphite powder (normally pretty cheap) just 'shave' the end of a pencil (not the wood!!!!) into a fold of paper and either blow it into the lock or coat your key in the powder and pop it into the lock. You ma...

Drilling a fibre glass roof

Hi all, I've just bought some roofbars from Ebay (thanks for the tip off Jed) - my original plan was to use some b*st*rd strength glue on them - however on closer inspection this doesnt seem like the best/easiest idea. I'm not really feeling confident enough to drill into my poptop and figure I'd ra...

Rock n Roll Bed

Hi y'all, after a drunken encounter followed by a proper look - it appears that my rock n roll bed is merely attatched to the van by screws I wouldnt really trust a set of shelves to - and it looks like they are only screwed into the carpet!!! I'm not liking that - so I was wondering what the normal...
