Self build kitchen units

Just looking at doing a small kitchen unit and wondered if anyone had used the lightweight mdf I have seen? I know its probably best to use the proper lightweight ply but thats quite expensive so looking at alternatives but need to keep the weight down. Current unit was made in chipboard.

Re: "Snatchy" steering...

Had something very similar before not on a van but on a car, it was the CV joint, boot had split, no lubrication, so dry surfaces were causing it to grap. Was time to call AA in the middle of the scottish highlands! Never really noticed it on way up to Scotland as it was wet and rain lubricated it s...

Re: Newbie question on engines

Thanks that sounds interesting, where would I find which engine it has and if it is injected? What's it like on economy ( i know van and economy don't really go together) with the bigger injected engine? It's sounding like a possible at the moment.

Re: Subaru 'v' VW?

Think I will give this a miss as it may be too much of a gamble ( I know most are anyway but there are levels of gamble) for me as a first van, it would need some bodywork as well so all in all one for me anyway to walk away from. If anyone else is interested pm me and I will point you in its direct...

Newbie question on engines

Currently looking at vans and have seen a (well what looks nice and suits our tastes from the photos but a real inspection will reveal more) van. Just wondering after looking through the WIKI about anyone's views on the engine and gearbox in it. It's a 2.1l water cooled engine with a 5 speed box. An...

Re: help!!! rocker box cover!

Think I remember reading on here that it may depend on the cover you got as there seems to be some variety in quality of covers which can lead to leaks even when new.

Re: Subaru 'v' VW?

Yes that's my worry! Not knowing enough about it and then struggling to find info on it could well make this one a no goer for me. Thanks, if I get chance I may ask for some info, may be useful to someone else if not me. Don't think it's going anywhere fast at the moment.

Subaru 'v' VW?

I'm still on the general lookout for a van myself and on the way home from work spotted one for sale by the side of the road, only had chance for a quick look but says its a 2l Subaru (1915 according to DVLA), it has all the usual rust areas as far as I could see, had a respray which would need sort...

Re: New brake calipers?

Look at it this way, if the brakes are defective (and from what you describe they are) and you have an accident on the way...is it worth it?

Enjoying these very much but taking me ages to find the restorations, Mike is there any chance of an index to all the ones you have done and posted online?

Re: The VOLTSWAGON

Gulp! :? Love reading all these restorations and I don't even have a van! Reading them and seeing all this just makes me wonder am I thinking straight in looking for one! Suppose at least when we ever do, I will be going in with eyes wide open and know what I could expect to find. Well done MIckey, ...
