Hi, Ihad this problem withmy Type 25 and it turned out to be the bolt at the top of the coil spring on the front suspention, ther nut had worked loose and causing it to rattle when going over bumpe or rough road. refitted with new lock nut and this solved the problem.

This is the second time it has snapped, the first was above the floor of the van and was easily welded but this time it is below the floor and at the top of the forks which join onto the rods to the gear box. Thanks for all your comments, I noticed last night that the steering was easier so perhapse fitting the new boot and greasing it is now working through. Hi guys, the steering when ro;lling is not too bad but manoiuvering into a paking space is when it is realy stiff, as some of you have or are experiencing the same problem it must be a general dificulty, however it has been a gradual problem. Perhapse Im getting weak.many thanks anyway.

Thanks Guys. My van is a 1989 caravelle with standard steering wheel and the tyre size is 185 R 14C. No Pwer steering.

Thanks Guys. My van is a 1989 caravelle with standard steering wheel and the tyre size is 185 R 4C. No Pwer steering.

Hi Guys, I have jacked the van up on axel stands and turne the steering full lock both ways and moves very easily, checked the tire pressures and set them at 45psi which is a little high and still siff. Not power steering unfortunately. realy don't understand it.

T25 steering very stiff
Have recently fitted new boot on near side of steering rack as was damaged and greased it up at the same time but steering remains very stiff, any thoughts guys?

Running hot.
I have a VW Type 25 Caravelle turbo diesel which despite having an extra water pump in the engine compartment and one in line from the radiator the vehicle is still running hot and I have to put the heater and its fan on to hold the temperature within limits. Thanks for the help, finally solved the problem today, was as one of you suggested the bushes at top of suspension and play in nearside ball joint. Having the van put over a rumble plate at a local garage helped.
