Pop Top Improvement

Hi all, Just wondering if anyone has the same pop top as me, the van used to have a 'CI' badge on it which is who I assume did the conversion. It's a spacious pop top but a little awkward to put up, so wondering if anyone has the same and has modified it to make it quicker to put up? Also wondering ...

Re: Rear Brake Drum overheating - just 1

Hiya, the handbrake cable was checked and adjusted and all seems good. Took it for a longer run today, couple of hours and seems much better, I can keep my fingers on drums, so thinking this is normal operating temp, although near side still feels a little hotter. Wheels move freely once stopped as ...

Re: Rear Brake Drum overheating - just 1

Thanks for the reply. The hoses were replaced today and took it for an hours test run. Hubs were both similar temperature, hot to touch, but could leave my fingers on them. Trouble now is I'm a little paranoid and wondering how hot normal operating temperature should be. I know there's a lot of vari...

Rear Brake Drum overheating - just 1

Hi all, Wondering if anyone has experienced the following, it might be a little long winded...... So, preparing for a road trip after 2 years of sitting idle, everything seemed good, but put the van into my local VW specialist in Hastings for the once over, which included strip clean and adjust the ...

Pop top upgrade wanted....

Hi all, I've got a 'CI' conversation which has solid panels which swing down from the top and up from the base of the pop top and I'm wondering if there's anything I can do to make it more user friendly. I've attached a photo of the roof elevated so you can see what I mean. It's a bit of a pain to p...

Re: Twin Weber Carb Issues

Not really having the time and space I had the regulator and float needle valves fitted on Thursday, set at 2.5 psi and the hot start problem would seem to be solved! Went for a 400 mile trip along the M4 and M3, incorporating a few stops for fuel and sustenance and started 1st time every time with ...

Re: Twin Weber Carb Issues

Just been looking at the Mapassi regulator you mentioned, is it a simple plug in to the fuel line between the pump and carbs? I'm guessing I'll need a gauge to measure the pressure as well. Thanks.

Re: Twin Weber Carb Issues

Thanks for all that info BD. I have a Pierberg electric fuel pump, just looked up the pressure range, it's 3.19-5.5psi! It's been on the van since I bought it in 2006! As for manifolds, again, this conversion was done before I bought it, so I've no idea which one's they are, I only bought new replac...

Twin Weber Carb Issues

Morning all, I've been having a few carb related issues lately, (see this previous post http://forum.club8090.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=165925" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;), with the van being very hard to start when hot and then flooding and it's been getting steadi...

Re: Carb/fuel overheating

I've tried all combinations when re-starting, no throttle, full on, wait for it to catch and gun it etc. It's the restart thing that is most annoying. I will check out the other thread and also look at the return to the tank, since replacing the tank is already on the list of jobs to do! Cheers

Re: Carb/fuel overheating

OK thanks, I'll get that checked out. I will say though that it drives fine, no problem with acceleration etc, it's just when I stop the engine for a few minutes and want to start again. If I stop and restart immediately it's fine, it's only when left to rest for 5 minutes.

Re: Carb/fuel overheating

Yes webers, the ICT34's. Don't know the answer to the other 2 questions, but it has been regularly tuned, so it should have been set up properly, but not tuned after a long run on the motorway.

Carb/fuel overheating

Hi all, I've got a 2l Aircooled with twin webers and it suffers from a little pre ignition and is very hard to start when hot, after a motorway run. For example if I stop for petrol on a motorway run, it will usually start first time, but then die, unless I rev it really hard to get it through a lum...

Re: Locking wheel stud ID

I've managed to get 3 off by grinding down the bur, but of course there's one that is a little bit tighter that it just won't budge. I don't have the gear to do what has been suggested, so U'll have to find someone to get it off, still better that I only have one left on than 4.

Cheers

Locking wheel stud ID

Hi all, I know it's a long shot, but wondering if anyone recognises this style of locking wheel stud and adaptor and might know the make. Can't find any similar looking ones on the web. Long story, had brake failure in France and adaptor nut wasn't where I usually put it, so had the spare sent out t...
