Temp gauge not working??

Wondered if someone could educate me on how temperature gauges work? I have a 2.0 ac westy and it has what looks like an aftermarket temperature gauge fitted. There a couple of wires that seem to make their way towards the engine but the gauge doesn't work and wondered where I should start. Thank you

Re: Help! Can't find first gear!

Just fixed it! Thought I'd share the knowledge in case it helps someone else in the future. Quite simple really, the rod that goes from the gear stick to the gear box has adjustment towards the back. Basically, it looks like the nut that holds the adjuster had come slightly loose meaning that when t...

Re: Help! Can't find first gear!

I've just been out for another fiddle and it seems it will go into 1st by pressing down the gear lever as if going for reverse but only moving the stick over slightly. Almost as if something has shifted slightly?

Thanks again

Help! Can't find first gear!

So today I took the family out in the bus and when I went to put it in reverse it felt a bit strange.
Didn't really think much of it and carried on driving.
When I next went to go for 1st gear, it just would not go in!

Is it more likely the linkage has some how shifted or something worse?

Cheers

Re: Fridge not working. What's this fuse?

Cheers guys. Looking at that diagram, that fuse should be 10A and its only a 5A fitted.
That doesn't explain why it doesn't work when the mains is plugged in though.

Anyone recommend any reasonably priced repairers in the north Norfolk area?

Fridge not working. What's this fuse?

Hi all, can't get my fridge to work, as in no sign of life at all? The fuse on the top right if the control panel appears to be blown. Anyone know if this is for mains, 12v or both? Obviously any other suggestions gratefully received. Steve http://i678.photobucket.com/albums/vv150/pullafacial/4ACCA5...

Re: Re-lining interior advise please

Thanks, looks like a good job btw. Any one know if this stuff is available in other colours as I have the brown interior? I had a look on eBay and could only find grey type colours. Here's a pic of my interior, what are people's thoughts on what colour would look right? I'm no designer unfortunately...

Re-lining interior advise please

Hi guys,

I've decided I need to re-line the interior panels of my van as its covered in some rather tired looking cork stuff.
Firstly, is this any easy job?
Secondly, what sort of stuff do I use and where do I get it from ?

Thanks

Re: Help with electrics needed

Also, does anyone know if a current drain of 0.04A when nothing is on is normal?

Thanks again ;0)

Re: Help with electrics needed

Tonight I finally sorted it! I found the split charge relay and there was a mass of not very well connected cables to it. After a bit of head scratching I decided to disconnect everything so I could work out what was what. Turns out the relay was fine and at some point, the mains charger had been co...

Re: Help with electrics needed

Ok thanks.
So I think I've located the split charge relay next to the leisure battery.
Is there any thing else that is likely to be making the battery's act as one?
If not, may just have a go at replacing the relay and see what happens.

Re: Help with electrics needed

Ok, so it sounds like its beyond my ability!
I've got a mate who will have a look at some point but until then, if I disconnect the negative terminal of the starter battery when not in use, will that stop the battery draining?

Re: Help with electrics needed

Where can I find the split charge relay? Presumably a can test this by disconnecting the main battery and if it still starts, assume the relay is shorted? That might be asking a bit too much of the wiring and relay. Probably a fairer test is to disconnect the main battery then put the sidelights on...

Re: Connected to mains hook up. Trickle charge main battery?

Thanks, that's really useful info. I have a multimeter somewhere so ill dig it out over the next day or two and have a measure. I've taken a photo of the charger installed: http://i678.photobucket.com/albums/vv150/pullafacial/F35EBD1D-F2F4-44C7-9B1A-6317E6B9D5B7-4854-00000BFB320CC33F.jpg On a differ...

Connected to mains hook up. Trickle charge main battery?

Hi guys. I have another newbie question for you. I went to my van today after 10 days or so and the battery didn't have enough power to start the engine. If I leave it permanently connected to the mains via the hook up connection, will that keep the battery topped up? My other thought was to just ge...
