Re: Broken alternator bracket
Very quick question but you couldn't give me the full dimensions as I've got a mate who runs a machine shop who said he'll do it as a favour for me. (Desperate to get her running as she's not been since I bought her last year and I'm on a roll

Oil pressure sensors hint
Hi guys can you help both of my oil pressure sensors appear to be leaking, I've removed the tin ware from the lower one and removed my water pump pulley to make my access easier. Reason I'm asking is I put a socket over the lower one and the male spade sticks out through the drive section of the soc...

Re: 1.9DG Blowing Exhaust - swap time
I did the whole system on last month the real pain was the nuts under and around the thermostat housing in the end I soaked with ambersil penetrating oil with nightly sprays, on the day of removal I then used a product from loctite which is called freeze and release (the hints in the name freeze dow...

Re: Carburettor/Engine running issues
Right up date time I've now managed to get the engine running for nearly 20 minutes, when I then switched it off. I swapped the cables around as the carb heater and manifold heater were joined I had rejoined the wires as I found them before dismantling the carb , so I get the feeling that this wasn'...

Re: 1.6td engine went bang :( help needed
Hi Sorry to hear about your troubles. We are in Bristol and like you are wondering if there might be a good local mechanic and at the moment aren't having much luck! (We are the new owners of a van which hasn't been running for the last 3 years - it currently feels like two steps forward and one ste...

Re: Carburettor/Engine running issues
Well that's starting to narrow things down, I've put new carb and inlet manifold gaskets in and tightened to torque settings. There are new vacuum lines fitted to everything so indeed to look at the braided line and the dizzy advance one (was thinking of replacing it anyway) this is all good to work...

Re: Carburettor/Engine running issues
The temperature gauge was about half way.
Should of also mentioned that when it cut out the second time, I tried to restart the engine a few times but it wouldn't start.

Re: Carburettor/Engine running issues
Right I've fitted the new choke pull down unit, she ran for a lot longer than she has done and the old unit was definitely not working properly. She cut out after about 5-6 minutes and without warning with a little backfire, thought I'd check the electrical connections and sprayed the HT lead connec...

Re: Carburettor/Engine running issues
So the latest developments are: Checked the fuel definitely no signs of water. Checked all the wiring and sprayed all the connections with WD40. Checked the pull down unit, by sucking on it, doesn't appear to be holding its vacuum. Then tried starting the engine - it started first time! Engine then ...
