Re: Sliding door switch & interior lighting?
Thanks everyone, thats all super-helpful. The Devon doesn’t have headlining in the area described, rather carpet covered board, so the original interior light cut-out seems to be obscured. But I now know what should be there, as well as how and where to approach re-fitting a light there, which would...

Sliding door switch & interior lighting?
Went mad recently and bought new interior light switches for the cab doors: interior lighting to the cab restored (previous switch cleaning efforts resulted in short-lived success). But also noticed there is a door switch for the sliding door, with a wire attached. What light is this supposed to ope...

Re: 1.9 DF: bypass air cut-off solenoid power supply
Just following up on this: wiring mods still resulted in occasional lack of idle and needing to restart several times once it came off auto-choke, until it 'settled'. After two replacement carb solenoids from our favourite supplier, I got a third one from Just Kampers (I know, I know) which looked l...

Re: 1.9 DF: bypass air cut-off solenoid power supply
Thank you, seems like a sensible solution.
I’m not aware I’ve changed the way this has been wired in nearly 15 years of ownership, so not sure why its become an issue now, but will follow this advice. Cheers!

1.9 DF: bypass air cut-off solenoid power supply
Attention 1.9 DF owners or wiring diagram experts: Assistance appreciated! The power supply to the bypass air cut-off solenoid valve on our 1.9 DF (with Solex carb) is currently daisy-chained from a power supply to both the automatic choke heater and the thermo-switch for the manifold pre-heater (bu...

Re: T25 1980 devon Table and wardrobe door sizes?
1985 Devon sizes as follows (measured twice to be sure):
Table: 874mm x 533mm
Rear wardrobe: 612mm x 473mm
‘Bed lower drawer’ assumed to be lower cupboard under rear seat: 761mm x 258mm
Good luck with the refit

Re: Gearbox Work in London
I agree with using the above recommended specialists, however if you are looking for an alternative initial local opinion/discussion, Helical Gearboxes in London SE4 have a good local reputation from friends who have used them for non-VW gearbox and other work (although I haven’t used them personall...

Re: Any body else partial to a sniff?
Yep, guilty of this particularly after a long journey. If a picture is worth a thousand words, is a sniff worth a couple of dozen? As our engines are not immediately accessible, a quick sniff could identify immediate problems is the way I look at it - fuel, oil, also being able to hear the meow of a...

Re: NO SPARK ISSUE, Any help much appreciated!
Appreciate this thread, its been most helpful. The van has been getting very little use of late (750 miles between the last MOTs) and highly unusually wouldn’t start this week. No spark identified, so after a review of the steps in this thread, promptly identified as corroded coil connections- and a...

Re: Having trouble getting recon DF engine to run smoothly
General misfire and power issues on DF's (amongst others) can relate back to air intake and exhaust system leakage issues. If it's a rebuilt DF, are you 100% certain intakes and exhaust went back on properly and are leak-free? Was the carb swapped from the original engine and generally running ok pr...

Managed to very, very carefully drill and helicoil repair mine in situ some time back, so it can be done. No further issues to date.
