Can you post a pic of the dash panel and the pcb. Might get some clues from that. My 1984 dash dosnt have a clock or rev counter. It only has speedo temp and fuel gauges.

Had a sniff and it def smells like ordinary oil to me. Also tried a wee sniff of some brake n clutch fluid so if gearbox oil smells anything like that then thats not it. Thanks 300CE and Itchyfeet. The clutch is fine though the gear selection is a bit sticky for reverse. I put a board down yesterday so i will post pics later of the area and how much oil im loosing in a day. I felt all round the switch and it was oil free. Am i looking at a big job to get this sorted...
