e: Solar battery charger Post by Ralf85 » Yesterday, 14:16 Sorry to hear about your back - I know the problem. Anyway in the absence of a solar panel and in the interest of togetherness, get the missus to lug the battery indoors and charge it up occasionally. I'll ask her ! Yes back has been a roya...

Re: urgent help needed radiator help off to holland next week.

Thanks for all your help, before we left I redid the ptfe tape and almost a week in and towing the Eriba all is dry.

Lots of waves from the Dutch with the Eriba - I'm not sure if it's out of sympathy though !

Re: urgent help needed radiator help off to holland next week.

The o ring that came with the Meyle switch was copper looked like two bits of copper squashed against each other
I purchased another switch from GSF on way home today and the o ring is flat and silver which is more looks like the material type but metal

Re: urgent help needed radiator help off to holland next week.

I wouldn't reuse the copper sealing washer, it will most likely be a very soft metal that once deformed could need replacing in order to get a seal.

good point but with the amount of PTFE tape i wouldn't think this is an issue...saying that I've taken it out 3 times !

think is 22 x29 o ring !

Probably a silly question but have you got the fibre (similar) wash fitted to the fan switch?

its a copper washer if that's what you mean ?

Re: urgent help needed radiator help off to holland next week.

rest assured no k seal or any other sealing product is going in the system ! mechanic meant stick silicone sealant on the outside of the threads between gap/plastic i.e. just rub finger round outside don't undo the switch. Replace the rad when you get back. Relax, chill out, you'll be fine. I intend...

Re: urgent help needed radiator help off to holland next week.

pretty much what mechanic said with it being hairline split to late to send rad back as I bought it when Eurocrat parts where knocking them out at £30 odd£ and it was in the loft for 6 months before it was fitted in FEB 15, worth a try though. is it worth putting the silicone sealant on ? Thank you ...

Re: urgent help needed radiator help off to holland next week.

Wind the tape on so that it doesn't unwrap as you screw the switch in

ie wrap it tightly and so that it's flat and not all scrunched up !
