Re: Coolant issues!
I've never used any of that stuff, in fact I've only just flushed and replaced the AF, bit annoying to see the expansion tank full up and dripping lovely new coolant on the drive, Sorry about the nomenclature, I never know what to call the tanks. Description of the darlek cap from BW! Synonyms for t...

Re: Coolant issues!
Haha, mine does exactly the same, my driveway is quite steep, after a period of time the secondary expansion tank fills up and leaks. I resolved by fitting a new "Darlek" cap on the pressurised expansion tank (although this one hasn't lasted that long before the same happened) https://bric...

Re: 5 Speed box, 1st to 2nd issues
Added a tube of Molyslip after an oil change, I think it helped a bit, I only get a slight catch rather than a crunch.

Re: Holsworth Villa3 Pop top popped!
So removed the front weather shield and and had a poke about. It turns out that half the baton that the slider channel screwed to wasn't secured to the roof at all, screws were screwed into baton, threads viewable but not roof. Therefore lots of waggle on front right. Must have come from Holdsworth ...

Holsworth Villa3 Pop top popped!
Hello everyone, have a bit of a problem with my roof, whilst opening/pushing the roof up the pin popped out of the nylon roller in the guide. I assumed this happened when the roof didn't go up squarely (perhaps miss matched pressure in the gas struts?) The roof therefore won't go all the way up and ...

Grease melted after Porlock Hill!
Parked up in a Porlock campsite immediately after coming down the "Hill", could feel the front wheels giving off a fair amount of heat. Few minutes later, some steam started emanating from the speedo drive on the grease cap, then grease started dripping out the hole, clucking bell  ...

Re: Using a Sump Pump to change oil.
Normally I change oil and filter every year no matter mileage. But last 2 years had done no more than 1000 miles between last oil and filter change..... oil is cheap, engines are not. I buy 20 litre tub of semi 10/40 (no hydraulic tappets) really cheap from Euro, same stuff goes into the MK4 Golf an...

Re: Using a Sump Pump to change oil.
I know, I know, usually do it once a year no matter the mileage but have done so few in the past 2 years. Having said that the mileage has gone up quite considerably (in comparison) now that I have replaced a certain grease cap  well done but give yourself a slap for not changing the oil more r...

Re: Using a Sump Pump to change oil.
Ahem, finally got round to oil change.
Poked the pipe down dipstick tube until it came to a stop (assumed bottom of sump).
No idea how much came out but 4.5 litres went back in including filter.
All done from the top, no scrabbling around on the floor!

Using a Sump Pump to change oil.
1.9DG Having finally sealed a badly fitted/helicoiled sump plug, I am loathed to disturb the plug again. Ideally like to change oil by pulling it out with a sump pump. Usually do this by running pump pipe down dipstick tube. Having looked at photos of cases can't work out if dipstick/tube will get m...

Re: Oil filter change
Everytime, keep low/no oil pressure to absolute minimum. Never quite get my head around the concept of a bit of hard metal circulating inside a bit of soft metal separated by a gnat's "cock" of oil......
