Excellent use of the grinder is just as important as welding!

Re: Rear jacking points shot?

It looks like what is left is still pretty thin, I’d see about taking it back to shiny metal. My gut would say just a flat patch first, then the repair plate, positioning doesn’t need to be millimetre perfect in this instance.

Re: Head gasket replacement

I’ve not used any garages here for my van, but I’d recommend Budget Auto Centre at Back o’Hill ind est as honest and straightforward to deal with. Worth talking to anyway. There’s a place in Alloa I think as well that does restorations, I’ll look and see what I can find about them. If you want a han...

Re: Rear jacking points shot?

That outer mount has been wrecked for a long time, hasn’t it? Jeepers. It sobering to realise what will get through an MOT. On the plus side, your trailing arm looks in much better nick than mine did. I’d think about plugging the wee holes on the seams just by the bushings, as you’ve access to a wel...

Re: Help with removal of nearside brake hub

So, it looks like the op is talking about the front wheel, not the rear? Have you got the wheel itself off?

Re: Help with removal of nearside brake hub

Fixed with photos. Not pretty! Hey all, I need some advice and it is regarding my beloved T25 Danbury. She sustained some rather bad pot hole damage recently, yes not happy! So, it destroyed my nearside wheel bearings (they were on there way out), also the rim was damaged, nice tyre (truck tyre) blo...

Re: SA Grill inner headlamp options?

I remember a post on here, can’t find it now, with a member using an adhesive silvered tape judiciously cut to replace the silvering on the inside of the reflector. Maybe exhaust repair tape?

Re: VW T25 hightop Window search

Try a glazing workshop. I sourced a custom shaped toughened 6mm thick hearth (yes, a hearth, not a window) from our local glaziers when I lived in Caithness, that was in 2010 or thereabouts. Seals I'd source from Sealsdirect, may as well get fresh rubber on it at the same time. Make a template sligh...

Re: Rear jacking points shot?

A word of caution, I think you had found evidence of a prior repair to the trailing arm mount? Depending on how sure you are that the mount is in its original position (and you’re happy with the rear wheel alignment) you may want to consider a supplementary method to ensure everything is in the righ...

Re: Rear jacking points shot?

This has been niggling at me, I had in the back of my mind that the mounts for the trailing arm do not align, and so the rod method is potentially pants. I dig out my new trailing arm and voilà https://i.imgur.com/wOvsews.jpg And if that’s not clear enough, here’s a long threaded rod https://i.imgur...

And said flexible hose is easily available in your local pet shop aquarium section.
