Re: Fuel pump

I had a nightmare with mine, sometimes working sometimes not. Convinced myself it was all sorts stripped out the factory alarm changed almost everything (2.1 dj) and turned out to be corrosion in the LPG signal wire running along the back of the engine which was intermittently stopping the pump.

Re: Did Vw Line bore there own stamped DJ rebuilds?

Grrrr! Thanks. Yes up to the led so up to temperature. The gauge is a NOS VDO cockit 0-5 kp/cm2, the sender is old not sure what though a NOS 5 bar VDO should arrive later this week. Will wet test once I've found a tester. There is clearly a sizeable difference between the apparently low mileage reb...

Re: Did Vw Line bore there own stamped DJ rebuilds?

No sign of postie so swapped sender and gauge into the syncro for consistency and repeated the test on the suspected low pressure DJ engine. Cold                2@1000               4 @ 2000 Warm/hot    0.3@ 1000               2 @ 2000  red light flashing at tick over after running 10mins at 2500 rp...

Re: Did Vw Line bore there own stamped DJ rebuilds?

Blimey, I really am a rank amateur! Very comprehensive, guess I need to know more about the oil temperature. Those measurements were from my Dehler, a barn find bought for working away from home as the head room makes lonely nights more doable. Several months detective work suggest it had a DJ Oetti...

Re: Did Vw Line bore there own stamped DJ rebuilds?

Does seem like if we wait long enough the NLA unicorns will come back to graze. In the meantime I've run the Dehler up to temperature driving around with brisk acceleration up to 4000 revs and a bit of idling for 10 minutes until the temp gauge stabilised in the middle (this may not count as hot hot...

Re: Did Vw Line bore there own stamped DJ rebuilds?

It seems I probably fitted a grey behind the flywheel and the relocated one between the heads is blue. I'll get underneath and remove it/check properly on Monday and note time to buzzer more accurately. I see where your question is leading maybe should be white in the DOPS circuit 1989 van...!

Re: Did Vw Line bore there own stamped DJ rebuilds?

Thanks for the feedback really appreciate the time and expertise given! Started looking at this a while back, fixed rat harness damage, changed  Oil 15w50 Titan, new filter, new sender, now fitted remotely using BW kit, replaced spring acting on piston under oil pump which doesn't look to have been ...

Did Vw Line bore there own stamped DJ rebuilds?

Does anyone have any idea if Vw rebuilt DJ engines were often line bored in the UK? Reason I ask is that the DJ in my RHD syncro has  '1 .960' and a 'vw' logo in a circle stamped into the base of the oil breather tower and '3495' either side of the bell housing whilst the Vin ends 1599. Am I correct...

Central locking gremlins....?

Factory Central locking locks but won't unlock atleast it will but could be hours or days later. Ferry on Sunday and a little concerned may be locked out and unable to disembark!  Unwelcome take on 'lock down'! If you are inside the drivers door locks and unlocks on the door plunge button but...

Re: MV idles at 3400rpm.....?

Thanks, I did try and check for vacuum leaks. Just changed the temp 2 to rule it out no different. Found another ISCU black box tried that and bingo 850rpm.  I can see the transistor has been well fitted and no other discolouration or signs of distress on the board. Is it possible the transistor (wh...

MV idles at 3400rpm.....?

Been living with a fast idle on my MV engined Dehler when warm whilst I tackled mechanical improvements and worked on an interior. Having done most of the other jobs, suspension / brakes etc turned to the high idle when warm (1200). Checked for leaks with brake cleaner spray none found.  I suspected...

Another day another puzzle!

First trip out in 14 years, Dehler WBX originally 2.0 lite Oettinger though replaced with DJ driving down a motorway, temperature gauge falling gradually over 2 or 3 hours...? Heating working fine and not loosing water so assuming not airlock. Gauge now reads minimum, checked a spare but maybe wrong...
