Re: Syncro 1600 speedo
Thanks for the reply Aidan. What I'm trying to work out is how that happens? From my investigations so far comparing 805 with 1600 speedos the cog and worm drives under the magnet appear to be the same. 93 +/_ rotations of the cable by hand appear to equate to about 1 revolution of the post that dri...

Syncro 1600 speedo
Please can anyone tell me the difference (apart from the face) between a syncro mph 1600 and a 2wd mph 805 speedo?

Re: Peugeot 106 sunroof in a tin top?
Thanks, yes I see your point. There was a drain of sorts though not very good. I'm pretty sure it would leak. Clutching at straws really as looking at the horrible cheap plastic caravan one is just not right. There must surely be a low profile opening perspex double glazed or glass alternative close...

Peugeot 106 sunroof in a tin top?
This might sound a bit ridiculous but has anyone/ is there a reason not to put a Peugeot 106 sunroof in a tin top. The curve is similar and the caravan one a PO put in leaks and is … we’ll… a bit caravan by and crap?

Re: 1989 F reg 2.1 Dj syncro with no brake lights?
Hmmm egg on chin, turned out to be one of the plugs on the rear loom, and maybe one of the bulb holders. Whatever it was it's all good now.

1989 F reg 2.1 Dj syncro with no brake lights?
Struggling with a lack of brake lights. Bulbs good, fuse good. I have live at the switches under the master cylinder on the red/yellow all the way to the black box and rear light plugs in the engine bay. If I short across the plug lights don't come on. Have only tried the switch nearest the drive...

Re: Mystery wire...?
Just to wrap this one up. Thanks for the wisdom everyone. I assumed engine bay as I'd had the engine in and out.... twice! But turned out that the PO had fitted or maybe there always was a tell tale light for the tow bar electrics in the lower heater panel that took a feed from the flasher relay. T...

Re: 2.1 dj running in rebuilt engine....?
Slightly harrowing but all good. Timed to 5 degrees which sounds healthy?
Doubles as a test for the 2 stage fan!
Which I wasn't sure I had (no 53 relay fitted) but popped one in as I had it lying around and towards the end of the 20 minutes it roared into life.
Thanks for the tips.

Re: AFM mixture screw.......!
Fast forward 2 years and all is good.
Rebuilt the engine timed to 5 degrees, screwed throttle body screw in a turn and a half nice even tickover at 900rpm. which now shows a little over 3 at idle where before it was 0.6!
Very happy. Now need to find out about the running in routine.....?

Thanks Aidan good call!
The shorter one does have green corrosion inside, as such may well be have been clamped in between the tank and chassis rail unused.

I thought earth too, all the earths I could find and wiring to temp senders x2 , dops x2, reversing light, AFM, heater, cigar tube, TPS, Hall, ICU, coil have been cleaned and reconnected which brings me back to the very long wire? Is there supposed to be a main earth between syncro gearbox and chas...

Re: Mystery wire...?
Thanks rear diff locker sounds promising. I'd not managed to use the van prior to rebuilding the engine and don't remember seeing or more importantly reconnecting anything to the rear diff. I'll have a ferret! Yes! that will be it, thanks! It's long so it can reach over the gearbox not into the engi...

Mystery wire...?
Finally finished rebuilding the 2.1 engine in my syncro learned a lot along the way. I started it today and am working through a few electrical teething issues. The engine does seem to run really well but am puzzled by the following: There appear to be 2 cables that aren't connected. Both have 2 w...
