Re: Bit of a dilemma - any thoughts?
Thanks guys, you've helped a lot here. I'd already thought about getting a minor rebuild on the Golf's 130 ASZ before fitting as it made good sense, but after thinking some more about it today, I'm pretty sure the costs would spiral beyond what would be sensible - especially when compared with the c...

Re: Bit of a dilemma - any thoughts?
Personally, if I was looking to do an engine swap, I'd be looking at something with much lower mileage than 190k... Especially if you're going to pay someone else to do the work... Have you considered a Subaru conversion? Bit of info here... http://www.rjes.com/html/conversion_costs.html" oncl...

Bit of a dilemma - any thoughts?
I bought a high mileage (c190k miles), 53-reg VW Golf Mk4 1.9Tdi (130) Estate in January 2015 as a cheap load carrier, only intending to use it for local journeys, fishing and dump runs, but soon found it's actually a remarkably economical, utterly reliable and nicely quick car that's been a joy to ...

Re: VW Heritage Cab Carpets VS Newton Cab Carpet
The holy grail is the bits that go over wheel arches as its a complex curved surface and they need to be moulded sections. I don't know of any kits that include those, or of they do, they're flat and need darts cut into them and lots of glue. That's exactly the reason I've not pressed the button on...

Hi, I know you've seen the job they did on mine, they're not cheap, but I'd have no hesitation in recommending these guys in Aylesford: http://www.mk-autoupholstery.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: Another TV problem
it's mother in laws TV so no rush. :wink: I like that - you're a brave man :rofl As has been suggested, try checking the remote to see if any buttons have been pressed down and stuck. You say you've tried the buttons on the TV itself and nothing happens then as well? Assuming it's a flatscreen TV, ...

Re: Help please? Drivers side indicator staying on...
All fixed! I looked at the above suggestions, drew a further blank, then took it to a local auto-electrician who's now my very best friend. He quickly diagnosed the problem and it turned out it was the manifold heater relay that'd blown and melted wires in the engine bay fuse box. I suppose I was lu...

Re: Help please? Drivers side indicator staying on...
Has it got an alarm fitted that flashes the indicators? Hi Herb, thanks, but no, it's only got a sounder... Think I would recheck the wiring to the alarm then. The indicator can only come on if it is being powered. The hazard switch changes over the power source for the indicators so if it still st...

Re: Help please? Drivers side indicator staying on...
My best guess is that there is a problem at the indicator stalk where there is a short circuit between the wiring for the eg the headlight flasher, which is live regardless of ignition switch position, and the wire going to the drivers side indicators. Thanks Marlinowner, I'll try looking at that f...

Yes, indicator stays on regardless of stalk position, plus stays on with hazard switch taken out too...marlinowner wrote:Try unplugging the hazard warning switch.
