Re: Not turning over.
Thanks everyone, thats helped clarify things for me. At the cost Ive ordered another ignition switch from brickwerx like the starter motor etc. If theres still issues I will remake all the major cabling, since theres little else to do! I have already done the wire to the solenoid since I wasnt happy...

Not turning over.
Beryl is disgracing herself and starting to leave us stranded on an increasingly regular basis. Turning the ignition to start and you always hear the click of the starter solenoid but she doesnt turn over. Beryl is an 1986 Westy Diesel (now 1.9 non turbo), I have replaced the crimp on the solenoid w...

Re: Excessive oil pressure
Have removed the rocker cover and think I have located the drain hole in the lower left of the head. Can pass a piece of stiff wire through unobstructed all the way down into the sump. (it comes out like a dipstick), the breather port in the rocker cover also seems free flowing. If it is crank case ...

Re: Excessive oil pressure
I cant feel it from the puck, but people have said that the only explanation for the oil being forced out of the oil filler is crank case pressure. So it would appear somehow it is not venting out of the rocker cover, I dont understand how that can be.b Apparently oil pressure would not cause this t...

Re: Excessive oil pressure
From another T25, even if it was that leaking oil it doesnt explain the oil/crank case pressure.

Re: Excessive oil pressure
I have checked the dipstick by draining all the oil and then refilling with 4.5litre so I know the dipstick is correct. We have ran it without the puck in to see if it was breathing but it doesnt seem to be, what can be blocked to stop it breathing out of the puck?

Excessive oil pressure
Seems my 1.6 jx td is suffering from excessive oil pressure. It has been burning lots of oil (think james bond getaway) spotting oil on to the tail gate. The turbo was swapped for a known good one and this has not changed anything, the engine is running REALLY well and is not breathing heavily nor i...

Re: turbo faulty?
Thanks Jakemate - that makes sense now. I'll also be trying the breather in the bottle trick and see if it reveals anything.

Re: turbo faulty?
Ok I am confused now - should mine be open the whole time? Can I run it into a separate catch tank for a while? What are the benefits of swopping mine for the AAZ one?
I'm a bit lost now!

Re: turbo faulty?
Using the very technical and (slightly gross) test of blowing through it - mine seems open. As in no resistance at all when I blow through it. Is this wrong?

Re: turbo faulty?
There did seem to be a good amount of oil on the exit of the puck, so it could be originating from there. Time to try and get an mot on it and then pull it apart and see what is wrong. The turbo just seems like the most likely culprit.

Oh heck - dont give me more options! Was it hard? And did you need any specialist tools? Would be nice not to have to send it off.

Re: turbo faulty?
Thanks I'll check those as I strip it all down ready to send off. Have pulled most bits of cars apart but never diesel turbo lumps, so unsure what is normal or correct. have contacted midland to find out what there turnaround times are for this sort of thing.
