Re: 1.9DG Weber question
Souther carbs confirmed it can't be a fuel return pipe.
Previous owner however had run it like this for the last 18mths though before it started playing up:?:
Any photos or links to diagram still greatfully received.
Thanks

Re: 1.9DG Weber question
New fuel pump already fitted. I think it's sucking in that much fuel via the return pipe it's filling the cylinders and pushing it past the valves/rings. This is why it wasn't running on the cylinders full of fuel. Pop rocker covers off after running it with the return pipe connected - and it runs o...

Re: 1.9DG Weber question
OK, so I've had some time this evening and pulled the carb apart again, other than a diphgram spring being on the wrong side, I can't see anything wrong with it. But, it's still sucking from the fuel return hose :?: . Can anyone point me in the direction of an exploded diagram and jet data please? I...

Re: 1.9DG Weber question
This is sucking from what I think is the return to the tank.
That'll explain pushing fuel into the crankcase!

1.9DG Weber question
Can anyone point me in the direction of an exploded diagram for one of these please? Particularly the hose routing. 3 hose outlets. Fuel in at the top, return on bottom left, what about the rear one pointing forwards? Or are these the wrong way round? Someone had already played with it before I boug...

Re: 1.9DG running problems - dizzy?
Thanks all. Not much time tonight but checked one lead and plug at a time e.g. 1 lead on no. 1, then moved to 2, 3 & 4. Repeated for other 3 leads/plugs. All worked fine individually but when all 4 connected, spark is weak on 1 & 3. Now running on 2 & 4 only, no petrol in crankcase. New ...

Re: 1.9DG running problems - dizzy?
Thanks for reply. I'm - clearly - no expert but am more than happy to work my way through engines. We also did have it running nigh on perfectly. New fuel pump fitted in attempt to cure fueling issue. Carb - webber, I know, get rid of it - also stripped and cleaned. Only one lead was fitted in dizzy...

1.9DG running problems - dizzy?
Since my last postings re not running on no. 3, we got it running almost perfectly but not 100% sure how!!. It went through a phase of only running on no2 and also filling the crankcase with petrol. After messing around with seemingly everything, including backing off valve clearances and retarding ...

Re: 1.9DG not running on No. 3
Thanks for that.
Compression - from memory - was:- 170, 170, 165, 160 from 1 to 4. All get compression quickly.
Tappets are moving and not excessively noisey when it is running.
I'm still thinking air leak?
Hopefully look at it again tomorrow with more wd.
Thanks again

Re: 1.9DG not running on No. 3
Sorry for the delay people. I checked spark with a spare plug on loose lead so put this in knowing it was OK. I know it's not running on no. 3 because the exhaust doesn't get hot - until heat transfers through the 'head. Sprayed wd all around when servo hole on manifld was blocked, no difference so ...

1.9DG not running on No. 3
This problem just started after real cold spell.
Not running on No. 3 despite getting spark and having good compression on all 4 cylinders.
Already changed plugs, leads, cap and blocked servo hole in manifold. Still no joy.
Suggestions please.
Thanks
