Bite the bullet ,invest the money in the Subaru conversion :twisted: I was I the same position that your in now, went through the same thought processes and decided to fit a recon 2.1 dJ which did 50,000 miles on LPG and gave up the ghost :( i then went down the Subaru route and fitted a sohc EJ 25 ...

Heres some from me

I took the binnacle out again today and have spent a while mixing paint to achieve a satisfactory red/orange colour for the needles. Its as close as i can get to that typical orangey red colour that you see on automotive needles. Personally i think its a very very close match if not exact, i'm happ...

Al, Just checked my petrol rev counter and it only goes to 6000 the same as your diesel one, the only difference I can see is that the red part is further round, starting at 5200. Regards, Mark. Al the picture i sent you is a rev counter altered for the subaru conversion,the genuine VW one goes up ...
