Re: Replacement roof canvas

I put this one on my California a couple of months ago - works and looks great. I think they'll ship to the UK

Oil Consumption

Just wrapping up our european trip where we've done about 4500 miles over 5 months. I took a 5L jug of oil when we started and put the last in yesterday - so that's 900mi to a L.

Does that seem normal for an old (330k km) 1.6TD JX?

Will remember that earth thing.....did that stop the rocker moving then?

Hi Em, yes, rocker would not move. I bet you were really surprised I was - just couldn't believe that the rocker wouldn't budge.

Adrian's right - we need to get relays. It's on my shopping list.

Re: Light switch won't switch!

Hi folks, driven to work today with the lights working as they should....got to work, parked up, and the rocker wouldn't rock to turn the lights off. Pulled the plug of the back of the switch. It was warm. Not too hot to touch...but warm. So...I should be driving home in the dark..thus requiring li...

Re: Trouble closing sliding door

Interested in this as my slider has a similar problem. In the cold, say below 10 degrees, it pops open in the back after a few bumps in the road. Had two T3 mechanics look at it and neither could sort it. Given up and just fasten a bungy when it gets really cold.

Re: Headlamp switch frozen

The California, with it's four lamps, illuminates all four lamps on full beam, 240watts which is 20 amps (unlike the round headlamp models that use half that) and unfortunately Volkswagen didn't feel it was necessary to fit relays to the headlamps on the majority of models. As a side note* and as y...

Headlamp switch frozen

Can't believe this has happened... the headlight switch won't go into the 'off' position. It's frozen, just will not budge. I popped the cover off and messed about with the switch but it will not budge. I've pulled the 7 & 8 fuses so I can turn it off that way until I locate a new switch. While ...

Thanks for that Adrian - I'll start to look for one as a back-up

Re: Cig socket work around?

Well, I feel pretty silly - I had the polarity wrong. Took me a while to find a fuse to replace the blown one in the adapter but works like a champ now. The small red light on the new cig plug unit is on all the time - any big deal?

I appreciate everyones help.
