Re: Interior Leisure Battery Eletrical Problems

What would the fuse dial on the zig unit control? That just means you unscrew to access the fuse. Ahh silly me :) Have you any idea what the switch near the main battery would do? Switch it off & see if the engine still starts, it could be a simple immobiliser. It's not an immobiliser. The engi...

Re: Interior Leisure Battery Eletrical Problems

So very difficult to know what previous generations of owners have done but it may help you to have an idea of how the average system should operate. Just to clear up one thing first, that Wylex box appears to be a 'mains electricity consumer unit'.....so what you have normally are two systems..1) ...

Great job you've done with your restoration project.
Looks like you have put a ton of work in, worthwhile and satisfying in the end, I would imagine :ok

Interior Leisure Battery Eletrical Problems

Hi all, firstly sorry for any silly questions as I'm not the greatest at electrics. I can't seem to work out how my interior electrical system works. I have a leisure battery connected to a zig unit. https://s32.postimg.org/g9waiubhd/IMAG0706.jpg https://s32.postimg.org/uk8720agx/IMAG0618.jpg The ma...

Aha, When I took the old sender out there was no o ring on it. I take it that would be my problem? The old o ring is still in there?

Hopefully I can retrieve it as I pushed the new one in quite far

Re: Radiator Fan and Temp Gauge Problems

Yes. And the O ring and the clip. I've taken the old one out and it was a right state. I'm having trouble making the new one water tight, the old one had no sensor sealing ring on it. I have tried the new one with the sensor ring on the metal side, and also on the plastic side, and either way once ...

Re: Radiator Fan and Temp Gauge Problems

I thought you said you'd already replaced sender. I have a gauge around here if its that. I had my van in the garage a few months back for some body work and I asked them to fit the sender. I thought they had until a few days ago when I looked under the van and the sender was filthy, I've also foun...

Re: Radiator Fan and Temp Gauge Problems

At the bottom of the radiator is your temp sender to activate the fan. I'd be changing that. However the thermostat should be able to regulate your ideal 87C most of the time. The fans rarely come on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Yes I would change the switch too No it's not related. Check th...

Re: Disconnected wires

There's nothing wrong with using the aftermarket connectors. As long as they are covered and cannot short. The yellow wire should connect to the brown wire going to the switch near the pulley The blue/ black wire should connect to the brown wire going to the switch in between #3 & #4 under the ...

Re: Disconnected wires

You'll need a second hand one and splice it in with a soldering iron, to the existing wiring. Or go the whole hog and get the complete used loom from a breaker. I generally pick this sort of used stuff up from VW shows. I don't often hear of shows near me sadly. What is the name of the loom I'm loo...

Re: Disconnected wires

The brown wire goes to the 0.9 psi oil pressure switch next to the crank pulley. There should be another brown wire to the 0.3 psi oil pressure switch between #3 & #4 cylinder behind the pushrod tube protection tin Both these wires connect to the junction box via a two pin plug (handed) the bro...

Disconnected wires

Hi can anyone tell me what these disconnected wires in my engine bay are for please? I'm guessing the brown one is an earth but where is the live supposed to go? The green and yellow ones were hanging down near the front facing temp sensor. http://s33.postimg.org/y3u6fchyz/IMAG0525.jpg http://s33.po...

Re: Radiator Fan and Temp Gauge Problems

Thanks guys.
I'll order the rad fan switch from brickwerks now and try grounding the temp sender.
If the temp gauge still does not work is it worth me getting an after market one? I have been looking at the VDO ones.

Radiator Fan and Temp Gauge Problems

Hello all, I have a problem with my radiator van fan not coming on, it never has done. I've bridge the connection on the spade connectors as the wiki suggest and it is only coming on at high speed. My earth crowns have been cleaned as have the contacts on the plug. My temperature gauge is also not w...
