Hi,
I clean the screen and gaskets every two or three oil changes. I've been running an a/c 2 litre for many years and all seems well with this approach.

Re: Timing
Hi Billy,
The best I can do is give you the Haynes numbers for a conventional breaker points systems: 7.5º BTDC at 800-950 rpm.
I have the electronic ignition system on the CU engine and have got good running from setting to the Haynes spec. (4-6° ATDC).
Have you still got the Solex carbs?
Mateo

Re: Fitting a roof box to a tin top
Thanks guys,
I'm in touch with Brickwerks to find the dimensions, then I'll do some detective work, as you say ZsZ, perhaps too wide.
Bat, looks like you've got plenty of options with your rack set-up, nice!

Fitting a roof box to a tin top
Hi folks,
Does anyone have a recommendation for fitting a roof box? I was looking at these custom made bars from Brickwerks: roof bar
Has anyone fitted them? Are they compatible with Thule or Halford boxes does anyone know?

Re: leisure battery for T25 pop top 1984
Hi,
It's no problem to find one that will fit - You'll want one 175mm high or less, but check and measure your space obviously. I've used Alpha Batteries over the years; massive range and good service: https://www.alpha-batteries.co.uk/
You'll find one for sure,
Matteo

Tin tops are the way to go - then there's no hiding for the rust (OK I'm biased!)

Re: Are JustKamper swivel seat bases any good?
I fitted one to the passenger side about 7 years ago. It's a good solid base and swivels easily so I would recommend it. Two things to note: 1) I needed to drill a couple of holes to help with mounting - otherwise strightforward. 2) The plate will overhang the battery box behind the seat! I took the...

I admire your perseverance Rollercoaster!
These problems are often require a slow process of elimination, so if this isn't the final fix at least you're a step closer.

Re: Engine whoosh - with audio
Hi Robsey, Thanks for your reply. I have to confess in all my years of running this van I've not checked the valves. As they are of the self-adjusting hydraulic tappet type I'd always assummed I didn't need to check them. So now you've said that I'll have a look and see if they are at least free and...

Re: Engine whoosh - with audio
Hi,
I've checked compressions: 120 - 120 - 120 - 110 psi. So, some general wear as they used to be up around 130 (years ago) but I don't think this signals an obvious problem with a particular cylinder. It has been drinking more oil than usual though...

Hi CathyP,
They're not engine specialists, but they do have experience with T2s and T25s - Ian Button Cars in Cambridgeshire. THey may eb able to recommend an engne specialist on the east side.

Engine whoosh - with audio
Hi all, My CU 2.0L engine has recently acquired a slight whoosh/whistle when the revs drop following a tap on the accelerator (from idle). I've never heard this sound before - can anybody identify what might be going on please? I couldn't see a way to embed an audio file so here's a link: https://so...

Hi Cookie,
I agree that that the port is confusing. To confirm that on my PDSITS with rubber air hoses nothing connects there - photo below.
Hope the set-up goes OK.

Workshop/garage for fibreglass roof repairs
Hi,
A friend has moderate damage on their T25 fibreglass roof around the main roof vent. They live over in Cambridgeshire. Does anyone have a recommendation of a workshop/garage that could tackle that in the east of england?
Cheers

Re: Sliding door. Not popping out.
Yes, suggest that you get access to the moving components, clean up and lubricate well.
I'm still battling with my sliding door where the back edge pivots open but the lock at the front seems to be seized. I have a very stubborn bolt so I can't get the lock off the door - driving me crazy!
