Re: Solex pdsit carbs

Hi Cookie,

I agree that that the port is confusing. To confirm that on my PDSITS with rubber air hoses nothing connects there - photo below.
Hope the set-up goes OK.

Workshop/garage for fibreglass roof repairs

Hi,
A friend has moderate damage on their T25 fibreglass roof around the main roof vent. They live over in Cambridgeshire. Does anyone have a recommendation of a workshop/garage that could tackle that in the east of england?

Cheers

Re: Sliding door. Not popping out.

Yes, suggest that you get access to the moving components, clean up and lubricate well.
I'm still battling with my sliding door where the back edge pivots open but the lock at the front seems to be seized. I have a very stubborn bolt so I can't get the lock off the door - driving me crazy!

Re: Rust sealer and filler choice's

It's good that you're tackling the seams sooner rather than later SurfT25. :ok I use a dremel tool with a small grinder attachment to work on seams - you can be realy precise. My preferred rust treatment/stabiliser is Bilt Hamber Hydrate 80 - same as 937carrera recommends. I've found it to be effect...

Re: (non) sliding door

Thanks guys I'll try these suggestions this weekend. This door hasn't been opened for 2-3 years (it's a twin slider and behind units).
I put a load of morrisons MD40 penetrating fluid in earlier in the week.

(non) sliding door

I can't open my sliding door. I've spent a couple of evenings trying to figure it out, and I'm stuck (like the door)! It's an early door and I think the problem might be in the central lock (pictured below) - is this the only mechanism that releases the door? On turning the handle the cable moves bu...

Re: Fuel overflow or spill?

With a full tank leaks can occur around vent/breather pipes so I'd look there too.

Re: Rust treatment

Yes I second Fugeh, I've had good results with Hydrate 80 and the price is OK.
Happy Easter!

Re: Body shops Hampshire

Hi,

When I lived Farnborough way (several years ago) my first port of call was The VW Centre. I recommend them for mechanical work and they could point you in the direction of a reputable bodyshop in the area.

Re: excessive engine vibration at high speed

Update: On a 50mph+ test run I took the van out of gear and the vibration continued. All looked/felt right on inspection of rear suspension/driveshaft so I took it into my usual garage. Up on the lift they saw movement (30+mm) at the tyre and it turned out to be an old tyre worn unevenly. Thanks for...

Re: Help

Hi,
Back in 2014 I needed some engine work doing and went to Aird Motors in Beauly. I realise that's a long way for you but they did a good job and there was a mechanic there who had worked a lot on T25s over the years.

Re: excessive engine vibration at high speed

Thanks for the suggestions all,
Same tyres as usual. I'll do a test run tonight and take it out of gear and will also inspect CV joints.

excessive engine vibration at high speed

Hi, I've a CU engine that runs well at low speeds but as soon as I get to ~80kph/50mph it starts to vibrate violently which can be felt in the cab. This occurs whether the throttle is open or not and occurs every time (i.e. a consistent speed-related symptom). Compression check suggest a healthy eng...

Re: Insufficient vacuum for spark retard

Thanks for the suggestion, I tried that to eliminate a potential leak but no difference. I continued by closing the throttle basic adjustment (ie warm and off choke) right down towards fully closed and hey presto the retard started working as expected! :) I think the advance was coming into play at ...

Re: Insufficient vacuum for spark retard

Hi Sarran and thanks for the videos (as always!) With a warm engine and the chokes completely off the cams then I was working to <0.1mm (as per Haynes). Isn't the 0.8mm spec for when on the fast idle cams? I'm going to source one of those vacuum gauges so I can get a better idea of vacuum condition.
