Re: Paint for aluminium
worth doing a test on something ally first, not so much for the primer. More for the hammarite on top. I've found hammarite can sometimes reactivate primers that may not work with it. I sure hammarite will have a technical page on their website.

Re: New front seats
Have to agree with Aidan.. love Recaro seats and I have had them in most of my vans and cars. don't get escort rs turbo ones though or rover vitess turbo recaro seats though. the RS ones are a much taller base. rover ones have built in subframe. Manta and Astra GTE are good and low but more tired n...

Re: 1.9tdi Oppertunity
the aaz is an earlier non electronic turbo diesel engine, with a cable like a bike brake cable controlling the revs. the TDI engines are a nice step forward, higher HP + better mpg. the diesel pump being controlled by and ECU instead. that looks to be either an AHU or 1Z. From the slam panel it lo...

Re: 1.9tdi Oppertunity
If it is a mk1 and definitely a TDI then (tdi should show on the log book) then it should only be an ahu or 1z . fairly sure we did not get AFN tdi cars over here. there were also AAZ turbo diesel cars at the same time so worth being sure it is not a turbo diesel if you only want TDI. A clear pictur...

Re: 3 across the front?!?
for self supporting + folding flat and narrow seats why not try mk1/mk2 Sharan Galaxy Alhambra rear seats. the are 47-48 cm wide. the bases that clip into the floor of the original car they com from can be unbolted just leaving the flat sliding runners. I have mot checked the height but from what ...

Re: AGG gearbox code choice.
I have found that playing around with tyre sizes can give nice results, on our t4 I upped to 225 65 15 with 195 15c being the original size. used to run 255 60 15 on the rear of a 2.1 panel van I had. I have 225 65 16 on merc steels on the Doka I am gradually doing. we had a 1.9 1y powered t3 on a D...

we have done the Santander route before, only down side to that is the sea can be rough at some times of year if you are not ok with rough sea then get its not fun. I have only ever felt it once when it was very rough. we were went down to Spain in our Sharan in the end, less space than our T4 but ...

Re: 2.1 injection to carb conversion.
the weber kit we used was a weber designed kit not like the JK one. jetting was not right and had to pay for rolling road time but it was Well worth it! ran very well. used the standard airbox setup and fitted well with all the original pipes etc. I have the same kit for a polo that I plan to insta...

Re: 2.1 injection to carb conversion.
may be worth considering one of the weber kits that just camper sell if you have not sourced a carb. Weber carbs are quite tuneable so may help to get the best out of the 2.1 lump. we used a different kit that weber used to sell (may still do?) on a 2.1 some years ago and once tuned it was nice to ...

what were the prices like for diesel in France? I the past we found it mad that you could get two petrol stations on the same street 800meter apart but with 20cents difference in price. we have normally kept away from toll roads apart from the bits where we the route would be more costly/indirect f...

FIat Ducato / Regata 1.9td 80-85 hp
so it is from a turbo diesel, I have not learnt about diesel pumps but presume it is very much like the pump fitted to the AAZ?

Bosch 0 460 494 187 diesel pump
I am gradually going through parts I have collected over many years. I have found a Bosch 0 460 494 187 diesel pump that from what I remember came with a van that I bought (it had a dead engine) with lots of boxes of bits in side. I remember this pump looked like the ones used on the AAZ so put it t...

Re: real mpg figures for T3's V T4's
I would like to do a 1Z conversion (as I have the engine and complete loom etc) but that is the next step on.
I would think a 2wd with less driven load/rolling weigh (road tyres etc) on the engine and a non high roof would get better figures than a high roof.
