has anyone got any info on what diff would be in an ASM gearbox, had a look in a few places and none of them show what diff would be in this code box. 

I quite like this setup and have been thinking to go back to this type on one of my cars that currently has to the sprung tensioner system.

Would anyone know which engines VW Seat Audi used the alternator with the big spring under it. It's the ones that bolt up for belt tension, but you have to compress the spring to change the belt then tighten the pinch bolt. I know was used on T4 1.9 TD / Na engines. I maybe need to try that email address again as I have been in touch with VW customer support who friendly enough but not much help. Told me to look at my registration documents from DVLA.

Ok thanks, I got a mail failed response bounced back. Ive been in contact with VW on the phone. So hopefully should get an email in the next few days.

It's worth checking if the inlet gasket is the same as used on other engines. I think I read about using a petrol inlet manifold somewhere. It's possible that the petrol 1.8 and 2.0l engines have the same type of inlet port layout.

The standard 1.6na diesel air box should fit also.

yes I have seen those. I'm more looking into the hand held devices currently more because of cost, like quite a lot of people currently money is tight.
 

what cable and software are people using with tdi conversions. I can see lots of cables on eBay etc, some with a CD.

worth doing a test on something ally first, not so much for the primer. More for the hammarite on top. I've found hammarite can sometimes reactivate primers that may not work with it.  I sure hammarite will have a technical page on their website.

Have to agree with Aidan.. love Recaro seats and I have had them in most of my vans and cars. don't get escort rs turbo ones though or rover vitess turbo recaro seats though. the RS ones are a much taller base. rover ones have built in subframe. why would you loose mot exempt status for fitting a more efficient and probably better emissions engine?

 

the aaz is an earlier non electronic turbo diesel engine, with a cable like a bike brake cable controlling the revs.  the TDI engines are a nice step forward, higher HP + better mpg.  the diesel pump being controlled by and ECU instead. that looks to be either an AHU or 1Z.
