what colour oil pressure switch should I have?
I recently bought a recon engine for my van. After a Couple of minor teething problems the engine was running perfect. However yesterday my buzzer of doom came on. I pulled over immediately and the oil level was fine I started the engine again started driving and it happened again. At this point I d...

Re: oil leak.... am I missing an o ring?
I've been searching all sorts of things in the Internet and found nothing, hence my post on here. I was obviously looking in the wrong places. Looks like it will be a nice easy fix then. Thanks for your help

oil leak.... am I missing an o ring?
I seem to have a bit if an oil leak on my van which I'm 99% sure is coming from the dipstick locater where it fits into the engine. The engine is new and i reused my old dipstick locator . I have noticed that it fells a little bit loose. Silly question but should there be an o ring here? I remember ...

Re: Radiator doesn't get hot whilst bleeding new engine
I've got it sorted now. I'm not having much luck. It turns out the 'U' shaped clamp on the underside is slightly too wide so the thermostat will not sir correctly in the housing. I think this is why I had it up side down as it only appeared to fit one way. I'm now off to heritage to get a new one so...

Nope just the one. Although the gap is about what I would imagine it would be if there were two.

Re: Radiator doesn't get hot whilst bleeding new engine
Well this is rather embarrassing. It looks like I had the thermostat fitted the wrong way round . I guess it's all a learning curve!! However, my next issue is this.... when I flip the thermostat around so it it the right way the top part of the thermostat housing doesn't fit. There is a gap o...

Re: Radiator doesn't get hot whilst bleeding new engine
As far as I know the cooling system was fine. When I rev the engine water comes out the radiator bleed valve so I'm assuming there is no block. What I can't get my head around is that there is no water getting past the thermostat but cold water comes out the rad. To be honest I've spent a small fort...

Re: Radiator doesn't get hot whilst bleeding new engine
Its a late system. I had the bleed screw on the stat open. I run it for about 20 mins but the needle on the temperature gauge starting rising well over half way so I stoped

Radiator doesn't get hot whilst bleeding new engine
I've just fitted and fired up my new engine (1.9dg) for the first time. The engine runs sweet but for some reason water doesn't seem to be getting to my radiator. I have tried bleeding the system as per the wiki but the radiator remains cold. In the end I turned the engine off as the temperature gau...

What running in oil
I'm a couple of hours or so away from firing up my new engine for the first time. I read somewhere that you should use one lot of oil and then do a full oil change after 500 miles. This is probably a silly question but do I use the same grade oil for running in the engine or do I need a different gr...

Another engine question--this time it's a sensor
Apologies for bombarding the forum with questions during my engine build. It's the first one I've done on my own and just want to make sure it's done right. I have noticed a sensor/sendor on the left hand side of the engine which screws into the engine between the two central push rod tubes. It look...

Re: should there be a gasket on thermostat housing?
I have got the yellow one. It came in the gasket kit that was supplied when I picked up the recon engine so I'll use that one.
