I did think that myself but wasn't too sure. Is there anyway of testing the glow plug?

It is smoke. No doubt about it. Going to have a closer look this weekend. The misses was out in the car today but no sign of any smoke, that's the strange part

Yes he serviced the car not the heater. Thanks for the link, I will find out which heater it is tomorrow & have a look.

It's just had a full service last week, how do you go about servicing the heater? Is a job for a pro or is it diy?

Can anybody tell me why I've got clouds of white smoke bellowing from underneath the rear of my vw sharan, I think it has got something to do with the rear auxiliary heater. It happened once before about a year ago & now it has returned.

Like I say hopefully won't be using it too often but when I do I don't want stop,start spit n fart, bird "pooh" & spatter everywhere as I'm no pro so don't need the job making harder.

I'm looking at getting myself a welder for those little jobs that pop up now & then, We have gas migs at work which I use now & then but while looking round I found there are also gasless mig sets which I have never used, Are these any good? whats the difference in weld quality & techniq...

Brake servo hose fitted & still not right, where else can I check for air leak on inlet side??

Cheers Aiden, The servo hose does look like it's seen better days, just ordered a new one. Fingers crossed

Fitted new vacuum hoses today & van is idling a lot better now, went for a drive but van is lacking power & was struggling with any slight incline.. Any Idea's??? I did a compression test, results-#1=148 #2=158 #3=150 #4=159, the plugs out of 1 & 3 looked like running lean but 2 & 4 ...

The timing was checked & fine before I changed the leads & cap, the air filter is new so think i'll start with the vacuum hoses.

Sorry James I'm with you now, will be up bright & early (so will the neighbours if it back fires again ) to have a look as it makes sense as nothing else has changed to stop it starting.
