Re: fuel hose clip size

Vehicle wiring products sell a 12 mm clip - PPC12 - this will cover 11-13 mm so will fit in with what brickyard says http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.eu/VWP-onlinestore/hoses/hoses.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Alternatively ECAS 2CV parts supplier sell 5.5 mm fuel p...

Re: How to fit a radiator switch

Guy's I've used these meters in the pictures and you get different readings whether it is matt black or shiny Question Is the switch 3 pin or 2 pin? Resolution Order new - fit when engine cold - test As Ian (and boy's) have said if engine cold - no burny - you should not need to bleed if you are qui...

Re: Porous bore - 1.6TD JX

I went past this morning to take a look - unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me. The wall of the cylinder looks as if it has a dozen or so pinpricks in it, and an area about 1cm long that looks like a crease in the cylinder wall on the 'end' wall' but no obvious signs of any fractures/ crack...

Re: DF Engine - rebuild or convert.

It sounds like you have a project :) If the waterboxer is your look I would suggest you do the bodywork first and be on the look out for a 2.1 engine to do up in parallel with the body work Converting along the way to new water system as the old parts are getting obsolete and run injection or pierbu...

A bad / loose connection on the electrical terminal (buzz bar) will also produce a high temperature on a laser temp :)

Re: Thermostat replacement - drain coolant?

I think you can access the thermostat from underneath- only two boltss - depending on the exhaust routing / fittings I took the housing off mine and left the pump on - I was lucky as it had been apart before - but noticed that if I could access the two little bolts - it would have been a quicker way...

Re: Max revs for a 1.9 DG?

If you look at the speedo - there are little red lines on it to (recommend) - tell you when to change gear.
Mine is fitted with a rev limiting distributor rotor - I have only had it cut in once - i think it is about 5400 rpm

Re: Oops!!

John

All the engines that we used to build we used a product called Plastigauge to determine the clearances

Saying that - the crank just dropped in on a conventional engine and was not as fiddly as splitting the cases again to look at a piece of plasticine

Just a thought :)

Nobody is doing any bullying - just a matter of difference of opinion

All the comments are tongue in cheek - you have had an invite to the table from Ian

Fetch your chair up - have a beer and chill

Unlike me - Camping in the corner all alone!
