Re: Which oil - T25 1.9 litre watercooled engine

15w40 mineral oil seems to be the chosen grade and it's the original spec.

would be interesting to know if anyone uses 20w50 on higher mileage engines that haven't been rebuilt for a while.

Re: JP Group driveshaft joints

OK thanks, I might just chance regreasing first, just assumed the one that was knocking has probably worn because it's dry and simply regreasing wouldn't solve the issue but they don't look that hard to remove so worth a go first :)

JP Group driveshaft joints

Hi Guys, Van has developed a knocking noise from rear passenger side when turning left, had a wobble of the driveshaft and they all sound bone dry and the wheel end at passenger side rear knocks a little. So i think i need to replace one and probably re-grease the other 3. Brickwerks sell a JP group...

Re: Opinions on my floppy rocker please !

Ok thanks, I'll run it up and recheck just in case it had drained, if no luck then I'll get a new tappet.

what's the advantage of telescopic push rod tubes if you can remove them normally without taking the head off then?

Re: Opinions on my floppy rocker please !

Yeah it hasn't been stood, I've been using it at least every two days to go to work for the last few weeks a s that's 8.5 miles each way. Any idea what the turns should be on used ones then, maybe 1.5 turns? OK it sounds like I could remove the tappet by taking off the rocker to gain access to the t...

Re: Opinions on my floppy rocker please !

Yeah I did have a read of the Haynes manual and a few threads online and most seemed to say 2 turns which is why I went for that. I hadn't run the engine up to temp as didn't see that that in any instructions but the van hadn't been left standing for long. It's weird as all the other ones were fine....

Opinions on my floppy rocker please !

Hi Guys, I have a T25 1.9 dg 1983, it's been running well but noticed the tappets seemed noisy so decided to adjust them at the weekend.  As usual nothing on these vans is as straight forward as planned, got to the last set and noticed some movement on the rocker. So I had been loosening off the 15m...

Re: half an hour holiday (overheating)

How High is the gauge reaching when you drive? bearing in mind you've mentioned you have a lot of wiring issues are you sure you aren't just getting a bit of a dodgy reading, the temp sender is only a single pin connector that relies on resistance to change position of the gauge. The fan is turned o...

Re: New fuel filler seal doesn't fit?

Lol thanks, at least I know I'm not the only one! I might try parts heritage as I saw the list the seal as 70mm instead of 68mm so maybe that will be a better fit, probably just a waste of another £14 but might work! Either that or I'll have to try and wrap something around the neck where it's gotte...

Re: New fuel filler seal doesn't fit?

Has anyone tried fitting the newer late plastic filler to an early tank?

New fuel filler seal doesn't fit?

Hi guys, Have an early 1.9 dg that's leaking fuel at the filler neck tank seal, fitted new Brickwerks seal but still leaked a lot. Rechecked filler neck and noticed it's a bit rusty and has actually polished itself so is thinner at the seal area. Ordered new later style plastic neck with the adapter...

Re: Petrol smell inside when driving

So it turns out someone has previously screwed through the floor and into the passenger side expansion tank which left a small hole for the vapour to escape out of. Covered it with tape and the smell has now gone, will remove and give it a better fix but that's problem solved. Thanks for your help g...

Re: Clutch biting on it's own

All done, the new master came with the white bit too :)
Works nicely now so it was the master cylinder not holding the pressure down.

Thanks for the help guys

Re: Clutch biting on it's own

Yeah I got to it earlier when I adjusted the pedal freeplay and that's most of the job apart from undoing the fluid lines so will hopefully be OK as these aren't on the outside getting rusty! Not sure what ferrel you mean but I'm sure it will make sense when I get the old one off, won't throw anythi...
