Re: Cb radio question

Gutter mounted antennae are grounded through the screws which fasten the mount to the (steel) gutter. Just to point out, I put a thin rubber mat between my steel gutter mount and the gutter to protect the paintwork, and the CB worked fine for me on the Mendips meet - there's no screws on the mount ...

Re: New awning. Which one?

We've got an early Vango inflatable awning too, would recommend - went for the larger size, which is lovely, but it's pretty hefty to lug around when packed away - normally I hire a small trailer when going on longer hols to avoid having to fill the van up with it! :)

Re: Eberspacher Heaters - petrol vs diesel

The B4 is the petrol model, you should be able to source one as easy it's diesel equivalent I'd have thought, as it's still in production - looks like it's about £5 more... https://www.eberspacher.com/products/fuel-operated-heaters/air-heating/airtronic-b4.html" onclick="window.open(this.h...

Re: Heater control knobs

I know my stereo effects the bottom leaver on my van a bit, as it's a pretty tight fit in that part of the dash, with the cable for the lower leaver running under the stereo IIRC - it may be worth removing the stereo if you've got one fitted, see if that makes any difference. Plus, pull the ash tray...

Re: sliding door lock repair

I can see that Brickwerks offer a complete service, which is tempting : https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/door-lock-barrel-and-key-t3-sliding-door.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I've gone this route and it worked a treat - just remember to NOT remove the wrap from around t...

Re: Electrolux RM212F

I've found that my fridge running on gas is more susceptible to the van not being level than when it's on electricity, to the point where I've now got a small spirit level in the van for when I'm parking it on the chocks. (Bonus, better sleep!) Might be worth double checking that first, before disma...

Re: Subaru alternative sump

Not seen Ians handywork, but Smallcar in the states also make a low-profile sump: https://smallcar.com/vanagon/subaru-vanagon-conversion-parts/subaru-vanagon-5qt-aluminum-oil-pan.html And I think RJES were looking into it too, but not sure if they ever got there: http://www.rjes.com/html/sumps_.html...

Re: urgent engine needed

professional throughout, quick to respond & replace the 2nd faulty engine, but very quick to blame our garage Sorry I missed your original post - Sounds similar to my experience with them, 3 engines in quick succession, and I'm still not 100% happy with the one I have now but it's running with ...

Re: 4 Bike Rack

Is the Atera one working well? Any pitfalls other than storage? I've got the Buzzrack (think it's cheaper than the Atera one), and it works very well indeed - only minor niggle is that getting the middle two bikes on (ie, bikes 2 and 3) can be a bit of a squeeze - worked well with road bikes with s...

For what it's worth, it's the same on my van, just an empty hole. There's probably an excellent reason for it to be there though... :)

Probably a bit late now, but for the record - just purchased and fitted one of these 4 bike tow-bar bike racks: http://www.roofbox.co.uk/gal/bkc/Buzzrack-Quattro-tow-bar-mounted-bike-carrier-animation-02G.gif http://www.roofbox.co.uk/scripts/rbvehsel4_tab.php/car-specific-accessories/buzz_rack_buzz_...

Re: **Booking now open ** Mendipidy 2016 - Weekend of April 30th

Yep, thanks to everyone for organising/navigating/cooking when I ran out of gas... A great weekend, very much enjoyed myself, and always good to put more faces to names. Can't wait to see any piccies/videos that were taken. The Gas Pipe lane certainly was, er, "exciting" for a newbie! :D N...
