Opps, I've just fried my ecu (AHU tdi}

Been working on the van this morning and forgot to plug in the plug for the maf sensor Van started fine but quickly went in limp mode, flashing glow plug lamp, no throttle control, idling at 1100rpm and no scanguage readings Pull over and check what's wrong, the maf plug has gone, wiring ripped out ...

Re: Matts Subaru conversion"top tip o the day"

I had something similar years ago after changing the engine on my younger brothers mini, I was an A35 enthusiast so not used these front wheel drive things, I went to replace the distributor cap and leads and found what I thought was a black lid from an aerosol can, turns out it was the clutch relea...

Re: Refurbished my Porsche steering wheel

I've been toying with the idea of one of those leather ebay covers... I figured they wouldn't look right around the 4-spokes of the Porsche wheel but that doesn't actually look bad... makes it chunkier too... hmmm  I was really apprehensive about using one of these covers too since I'd never ...

Re: Adjusting the tailgate

Thanks for replying adie89, I had a bit play the other day, think I've got it tighter against the hatch seal and I adjusted the striker a bit more, so I'll see how it goes next rain fall we have

Adjusting the tailgate

I've just painted and fitted a replacement tailgate and although it looks tight against the seal from the inside I am getting a slight water seep in wet weather. Before I try and and adjust again this week, is there any tips on doing it? So far I've been adjusting it on the Allen bolts alone, but is...

Refurbished my Porsche steering wheel

I picked this up very cheap at my local scrapyard a while back, used it last summer but the leather was really bad, eventually plucked up the courage to recover it using a cover from ebay

It's not perfect but I'm very happy with it

Re: Replacing the dashboard plastic PCB

Just fitted Chris's pcb to my van, mines a late model diesel dash with dops, separate tacho and digital clock so took a little extra working out but working through the old foil pcb it was quite easy. The main reason for switching to Chris's board was I run a smaller steering wheel so from my drivin...

Re: Webasto 24v to 12v converter

A lot of ones like that cannot cope with the start up currents, even 300w ones. Use these - I have been using them for years: Use one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-DC-10-32V-to-12-35V-12V-24V-6A-Adjustable-Boost-Step-Up-Converter-Module/232812880591?hash=item3634baa2cf:g:I60AAOSwi0RbJ89v f...

Re: Replacing the dashboard plastic PCB

Hi Rob Yes, I think that rearrangement will work. The bottom two LEDs can be configured individually as 'switched earth' or 'switched live'. The main beam circuit is switched live, and the conventional location (top right) is hardwired this way, so can only be used for a switched live circuit, but ...

Re: Replacing the dashboard plastic PCB

I'm following your thread with interest here as although I'm only suffering a little damage around the digital clock, where I've had to cut back the back lighting tracks due to damage https://s6.postimg.cc/qvsgo45v5/IMG_20180717_045028.jpg My real issues are my main back-light holder's have been som...

Re: Webasto 24v to 12v converter

Thanks, ordered the 600w one I've already got the existing one mounted in a box, under the seat next to the leisure battery, I'd followed someone else's install where you'd recommended how to do it, but I'm sure the links were dead for the converter and that's how I ended up grabbing one from amazon...

Re: Webasto 24v to 12v converter

Post a pic/link of what converter you are attempting to use. Also what model of heater. That is normal with a lot of step-up converters - basically they are cr*p. I sell 24v heaters with 12-24v converters all the time. A decent converter only costs £4-5 for an Air Top 2000 and £10ish for an Air Top...

Webasto 24v to 12v converter

I've had my webasto installed in my van for just coming up to a year, and although it's summer on the recommendation of a Facebook post I thought I'd run it today just to make sure it works Well, it doesn't Mines a 24v one and I used a 12v to 24v 12a converter that I bought from amazon, and I'm gett...

Re: 3 way or Compressor

I bit the bullet and went for a compressor. glad I did, it works well on the leisure battery and my 150W solar keeps up with demand on a good sunny day. I got a Chinese one (they're all made in china now anyway) it's a 40L top loading one and the right dimensions so I can build it in. It also opens...
