Low ignition voltage

I've just come to write in my new stereo to the van. I thought I'd look into why the previous owner had wired it in permanently to the starter battery.  So I wired the new one in correctly to a switched 12v and permanent... Queue the stereo coming on for half a second then going off..  Turns out the...

Re: Carpet lining the cab area

I only realluy want to do it as it still has the original rubber mat in the front and our circumstances are possibly about to change... So we may need to sell it in the new year :(

Carpet lining the cab area

So my next project for the Gipsy is to remove the rubber mat in the front and replace it with some decent carpetting. The thing is... I REALLY don't want to spend £300 on one of the carpet sets that are about. Whilst I realise that they are probably very very good, I also think I could line it with ...

Interior door handles

So I am currently in the process of revamping the Gipsy. I am trying to modernise it is much as I can whilst at least giving a nod to the original scheme inside... To that end, I have been looking for replacement interior door handles (mine are both split and knackered) but I can only find the parts...

Post rain leak check

So after the rain we've had up here in Lincs over the last couple of days, I thought I'd have a look around the new Gipsy to see if it's actually watertight... It turns out that I have the dreaded windscreen leak on the driver's side. The footwell is bloody full of water! At least that appears to be...

Re: Did I buy a duff fuel pump...?

The van is in the garage now, they are checking the mixture etc. for me.

The choke is a newly fitted one. It has only done about 40 miles since fitting, and that was on test runs for this problems.

Re: Temp guage problem

Time for a bit of an update... Over the last few weeks, I have ran the van and the radiator is hot all the way up. I replaced the sender too (mostly as it is easier to do and diagnose the fault than straight to changing the thermostat). The problem still exists. So.... I shall fit a new thermostat (...

Re: Did I buy a duff fuel pump...?

So... After a bit more fault investigation (and buying a new dizzy cap, rotor arm, leadds and plugs), I removed the spark plugs to check them over. This is what I found.... http://i1291.photobucket.com/albums/b543/Santa1979/VW%20T25/63a7c005-4f9f-4528-821a-cee1bed47b8d_zps4qclceso.jpg I think the va...

Lpg will be the way to go for me... As soon as I can muster up the £1000 or so to get it done!

...House upgrades and impending fatherhood is putting that on the back burner though!

Re: Did I buy a duff fuel pump...?

Haha I'm decidedly average.... Mine is exactly 100mm long! Mostly because it was changed when I cahnged the fuel pump. I did remove the pump earlier and pressed the lever with the inl;et pipe on and the pump-carb pipe off, and nothing came out. But when I lowered the pump to fuel tank height, fuel p...

Did I buy a duff fuel pump...?

Firstly, if I say I got it from JK, I think I know what the answer is likely to be... Anyway, My previoust thread about the engine lurching problem I had seems to have (kind of) resolved the problem. I ended up changing the ignition amplifier and coil (the coil was past it's best and the resistance ...
