I've bought some rear arches from ebay, cheapest ones I could get.
And have to say they were a real good fit!
no bondo needed, just some smaller mods in the 90° corner in the back..
I'm used to working on vauxhall/opel Kadett C's and the aftermarket parts are rubbish compared to those...

Re: nasty dent, fixed now!
thx guys ;) Come on be honest. You've done that before haven't you? ;-) yep, restored the van earlier this year ;) I do it as a hobby, my first car was (and still is) a 77 opel Kadett which I restored, done a few T3's in the meantime and now working on another opel Kadett. But I haven't learned this...

Re: Towns in Northern France
Thanks everyone - some good suggestions there. I am also thinking about Bruges - anyone know much about that place? Where to park? Eating? Drinking? etc etc Thanks Ian Hey, I live 10km from bruges, about 15min from the center of town (I live in Ruddervoorde). I've you're looking for a place to stay...

Re: spare wire to alternator ?
I have the same "problem"
installed a 1Y golf lump instead of the JX and I'm left with that one wire.
It's not connected ever since (15K km ago) and no problems.
So no idea what it's for

I went for a 1Y (from JX)
because it was the cheapest to build in my van and reliable!

Re: Banded steel wheels
yep, that's no problem really...
many classic cars have wider rears then fronts because of the look and stance.
but if you good to wide in the back you won't be able to open the sliding door without damage.
8" should still be ok in the back I think. Front doesn't matter really (if not lowered)

Re: Seam paint crackage
well I don't mean spray the whole van with 2pack paint with softener, just the seams after you've sealed them.
My kadett was repainted for 2 weeks and paint on the seems of the front fender cracked because it doesn't flex...

Re: spare wheel carrier
means that my spare wheel is 15" high, 6" wide... ET and things like that you can google (or search on here) and you'll find loads of information ;) and MB (mercedes benz) wheels can be found everywhere really... You should just look for the correct ET cause otherwise you'll need a spacer..

Re: Banded steel wheels
I have banded steels on my 77 opel kadett, not on my t3 though.
But what do you want to know?
if it's done correctly there's no risk or anything...
you can go as wide a you can but mind the sliding door

Re: Seam paint crackage
in stead of using hardener in the 2pack paint you should use "softener". It allows the paint to flex along with the body of the van

woops totally forgot about it...
so just got out of my lazy seat for you!
MB wheel: 6x15 et 31 tire size 195/70/15
hope that'll do for you
btw, didn't alter the spare wheel carrier or anything.
just use a little force to get it over the hook...
